| Batman Comic Books for June 2010 |
 Though  still puzzlingly mum on the details of Batman #700, The Source just posted a run-down of all the Batman-titles shipping in June 2010. And of course, we here at BYTB have them here for you.
Gotham is abuzz with techno-plagues and mind controlled youths as the Return of Bruce Wayne looms on the horizon. But will he return in time to stop the somehow-undead Thomas Wayne from stealing Wayne Corp from underneath him?
And the always at least interesting Joker's Asylum oneshots have returned again this year giving everyone a glimpse at some up-and-coming talent. This year sees the likes of Harley Quinn, Mad Hatter and the Riddler all getting the spotlight courtesy of Mr. J.
Oh, and everybody's favorite Denny O'Neil returns just in time for Batman #700! Now if only we knew what exactly was going on with that comic.... hmmm... stay tuned.

| Frazer Irving Named Next Artist on Batman & Robin (plus Return of Bruce news!) |
This morning  The Source announced that artist Frazer Irving will be stepping up to the plate next on artist chores for Batman & Robin once Andy Clarke wraps up his arc at issue 12. Irving's first issue (the lucky number 13) hits shelves sometime in June.
But that's not the last Bat-Fans will hear of Mr. Irving. Before his first B&R issues hits stands, Frazer will be busy drawing out Bruce's adventures in puritanical times in Return of Bruce Wayne #2.

| The Shadow and the Knight: One Fan's Dedication |
In  1973 DC Comics was publishing the adventures of both The Shadow and Batman. Although the two did cross paths in the main Batman title, one fan by the name of Randy Saitta clearly always wished there had been more.
Renowned Batman mega-fan Chris Sims highlights Saitta's quest to recreate a 'What Could Have Been' title he calls "The Shadow and the Knight" commissioning cover works from big name comic artists of the time for his imaginary book. Some of these covers are downright amazing looking and you can't help but marvel at their Bronze-age coolness.
Complete with an authentic 1973 DC Comics logo and Comics Code stamp, these covers certainly go above and beyond your traditional headshot commission.

| Detective Comics wins GLAAD Award |
This  past weekend, Detective Comics (written by Greg Rucka and illustrated by JH Williams III) won the award for 'Outstanding Comic Book' at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
The winning TEC run centers around Batwoman (aka Kate Kane), an openly homosexual woman who is inspired by Batman to take up the mantle of the Bat and fight crime and corruption in Gotham City. The series beat out other contenders such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Madame Xanadu, Secret Six and X-Factor.

| Follow Jason Todd's Journey in 'Red Hood: Lost Days' |
Jason  Todd's return in the pages of Batman always seems to spark a highly contentious debate between Bat-fans. But up until now, no one knew the whole story.
What happened between the time when Jason was dipped in the Lazarus Pit and his bloody return to the streets of Gotham? How did this former Boy Wonder turn into the tortured madman we all know today?
This June, writer Judd Winick hopes to explore this in Red Hood: The Lost Days. The comic's release will coincide with the release of the highly anticipated animated movie Under the Red Hood (also written by Winick).
Winick, best known as the man who brought Todd back to the land of the living in the first place no doubt hopes to flesh out the character whose return was largely maligned by comic book fans.

| Batman Beyond Returns in June! |
This  June is going to be a very happy months for Terry McGinnis fans.
We already knew that former head-honcho Paul Levitz would be scripting a Beyond themed annual for Superman/Batman but the folks have been pretty mum concerning the rumored mini-series that's been in the works.
Well this morning the silence was broken and The Source finally revealed that former The Batman-writer Adam Beechen would be stepping in to script the six issue mini which also begins in June.
Beechen says that the mini centers around a major threat that could spell the end of the partnership between the elderly Bruce Wayne and his successor Terry - perhaps even costing them their lives in the process!

It’s the eighth day of production as Christian Bale pulls on the spandex. His character is a beacon of liberty and justice, striking out at evildoers and keeping the streets safe from super villains. But his nickname isn’t the Dark Knight…it’s the Man of Steel.
In 2003, before Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns” and Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins,” director Wolfgang Petersen was set to direct “Batman vs. Superman,” a big-budget outing that set two of DC Comics’ biggest superheroes against each other. Now for the first time, MTV News can reveal that one of those on the shortlist for Krypton’s favorite son was none other than Christian Bale.
In an exclusive interview, Petersen – director of such blockbuster fare as “Air Force One,” “Outbreak,” “The Perfect Storm” and “The Neverending Story” – told us that Bale was among the two actors he met with for the role of Superman, with Josh Harnett being the second candidate. And according to the helmer, the film nearly happened.

For months  now Black Mask has reigned over Gotham from his headquarters deep below Devil's Square. But now Batman and the entire Network are laying siege on the Mask's tiny corner of Gotham and it appears as though the mysterious crimelord is about to be unmasked in Batman #697!
How do I know this? Well the cover says so!

| Behold! The cover for Batman #700! |
June  2010 will definitely be a month of celebration at the DC Comics offices. Aside from their ongoing 75th anniversary, June will also mark the shipment of not only Batman #700 but Superman #700 and Wonder Woman #600! Quite momentous, no?

| CONFIRMED Batman 3 Update: What Villain WON'T be in the Next Installment? |
 Rumors  are a dime a dozen and a cursory glance at the internet in the past year or so can prove it. Gossip (both supposedly 'confirmed' and otherwise) has flown left and right from far-flung (Eddie Murphy as the Riddler) to disappointingly realistic (Nolan stepping down).
But this morning the LA Times interviewed Nolan regarding his now confirmed role in the upcoming Superman franchise as well as the third Batman movie.
While he refused to comment on any specific villains he did let one slip, “It won’t be," he said, "Mr. Freeze.”
Unfortunately this will also be Nolan's final Bat-film but Nolan is sounding very optimistic. “I’m very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters,” Nolan said.“My brother has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these thing don’t go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling. And it hearkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories. That’s what we do.”

| BYTB Celebrates 20th Anniversary of The Dark Knight Collection |
Can  you believe it? It's been twenty years since Kenner/Tonka's Dark Knight Collection hit toy shelves. Although preceded by a Toy Biz Batman line, the memorable DKC upped quality and paved the way for numerous Batman action figure standards including variant figures and a Batcave design that would be implemented for over a decade. The likenesses of Michael Keaton & Jack Nicholson shined through bold, dark figures with intricate accessories and impressive vehicles. TDKC kicked off the longest and most well known tenure of Batman figure history, the Kennera/Hasbro era, which would see the production of over 200 figures.
But TDKC wasn’t limited to figures; it also included roleplaying toys and Tonka vehicle sets. Even the Batman: Return of the Joker NES game circa 1991 bared the DKC seal.

We all  knew that the Birds were returning to Gotham this spring alongside some mysterious new team-members but nobody thought Penguin would be one of them!
Okay, so maybe Oswald Cobblepot isn't actually joining the Oracle's ranks. But while delivering the news that fan-favorite Gail Simone was stepping down from writing Wonder Woman, The Source also posted the cover for Birds of Prey #2 (Gail's new series). And boy does it look like something's going on there! That mob doesn't look too happy to see any of 'em!

| Lots of New Details on the Return of Bruce Wayne! |
Even though Bruce Wayne is alive and kicking in this week's flashbacks in Greg Rucka's Detective Comics #862 and Sam Kieth's untold yarn in Batman: Confidential #42 (Click for five-page previews of each) - the rest of the comic world has been waiting with bated breath for new information on when exactly Bruce Wayne will be returning to comics full-time.
Well, this May the wait is over when Grant Morrison's Return of Bruce Wayne hits shelves. But in case you can't wait until then - check out a five page preview for next week's Batman & Robin #10 whose cover touts "The Return of Bruce Wayne Begins Here!" So it's definitely not to be missed!

| Review: Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths |
 When Justice League:  Crisis On Two Earths was first announced, fans had hoped that it would be a continuation from the two previous Justice League television series. Though initially conceived by writer Dwayne McDuffie as a bridge between Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, the final product was tweaked so as to make it a standalone feature.
Now I have to admit, I wasn't sure if I was really going to like this once I heard that it wasn't related to the Justice League Series. Some have wondered whether similar artistic designs are meant to imply that perhaps this film is tied to the cannon established in Wonder Woman or Green Lantern: First Flight but even that is never explicitly stated and is best left up to the viewer's own interpretation.

| Review: Scooby Doo: Abracadabra-Doo |
At times  we'll review non-Batman related products, and Scooby Doo: Abracadabra-Doo is one of those that we were more than pleased to review. Now I've always been a fan of Scooby-Doo going back to the originals when I was a kid. This latest direct to video movie is one of the better efforts.
It's a great story. The Scooby gang comes to the aid of Velma's sister at her magic school, with a bit of a Harry Potter vibe. They are being terrorized by a giant Griffin which is one of the better monsters they have faced for some time. There is lot of good action and creepy locations in the manner of the best Scooby-Doo. There are some good humorous moments too, without stooping to the ridiculous sight gags and role playing bits from the earlier shows. Except for musical interludes, this movie plays the mystery pretty straight.

Yahoo! News  is reporting that the 71 year old issue of Detective Comics #27 (featuring the first appearance of Batman) just sold for a record breaking $1,075,500 beating last Monday's sale of Superman's first appearance (in 1938's Action Comics #1) by a whopping 75k!
