DC Universe News*Note: This was released last week, however due to site upgrades we were unable to post it

SEVEN-TIME EMMY AWARD WINNER ED ANSER REPRISES GRANNY GOODNESS ROLE IN SUPERMAN/BATMAN: APOCALYPSE

Seven-time Emmy Award winner Ed Asner (Up) reprises his Superman: The Animated Series/Justice League role as Granny Goodness in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, the ninth entry in the popular, ongoing series of DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movies coming September 28, 2010 from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Review: Superfriends Season 1 Part 2
BYTB Reviews

Back during the golden yester-years of the 1970’s and 80’s the English speaking world was treated to a set of television shows based upon the popular DC Comics “Super Friends.” While the shows took on about 800 different iterations ranging from the Challenge of the Super Friends to the Super Powers Team the gist of the shows stayed the same. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman would fight crime alongside their assortment of friends presumably consisting of whoever happened to be hanging around the Hall of Justice at the time. The ancillary heroes changed but the tone pretty much stayed the same.

Batman: TBATB Season 1 Part 1 DVD Review
BYTB Reviews
Batman swings into an exciting new era of animation in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Soon to be hitting shelves, Batman: The Brave and the Bold Season 1: Part One 2-Disc DVD is teaming with a mighty honor roll of DC Comics Super Heroes. In this cool, cutting-edge and often funny series bringing back old-school comic-book styling and dry wit to crime fighting, Batman faces any peril - including other heroes stealing the show - in his relentless pursuit of justice. In the words of series break-out star Aquaman, “OUTRAGEOUS!”

Weekend Convention News Run-Down
Batman ComicsIn some ways it was a weekend even busier than Comic-Con itself!

This past weekend two big comic conventions were being held in separate parts of the continent. Baltimore Comic Con and the Toronto Fan Expo were both held to give DC Comics fans a low-down on all the upcoming news and events. And, although the conventions are not known for being the "big name" news breakers like CCI or C2E2, Dan DiDio and Ian Sattler did manage to let some juicy tidbits slip.

Click 'READ MORE' for more a list of all the Batman news that's fit to print from both events including news on Cassandra Cain, Multiversity, Nightwing, Damian Wayne and more!

New Batman Beyond Ongoing Series on the Horizon
Batman ComicsBack during Comic-Con, DC Head Honcho Dan DiDio confirmed that the recent Batman: Beyond comic book mini-series had out-sold their expectations. At that point it was announced that there would of course be more Terry McGinnis books in the future, but no further details were disclosed.

Well, this past weekend at Baltimore Comic Con Senior Story Editor Ian Sattler confirmed that an announcement would be forthcoming regarding an all new Batman: Beyond ONGOING comic series! No creative team has been assigned yet, but speculation is that the current miniseries team-up of Adam Beechen and Ryan Benjamin could continue their duties into the ongoing. But only time will tell.

Confirmed! Bruce and Dick Will BOTH Be Batmen
Batman ComicsFile this in the category of surprising pretty much absolutely nobody. DC Comics (along with The New York Post) announced this morning that following Bruce Wayne's return both he and Dick Grayson would both be assuming the mantel of the Batman. Once again, after the announcement of a new title specifically called "Batman Inc." this should come as little to no surprise to anybody. But it's still nice to get the official word.

What is new news however is the break down and delineation as to who would be starring in which book. The Source clarifies, "Starting in November, DETECTIVE COMICS, BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN will feature the ongoing adventures of Dick Grayson as Batman, with Damian as Robin. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne will take center stage in the pages of Grant Morrison and Yanick Paquette’s BATMAN INC. and writer/artist David Finch’s BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT."

Click 'READ MORE' for a look at artist Yanick Paquette's amazing linework for the first issue of Batman Inc with the intriguing title, "Mr. Unknown is Dead."

Batwoman #0 Hits in November
Batman ComicsIn a post Friday afternoon, DC's official blog The Source confirmed that the long awaited Batwoman ongoing by JH Williams will be debuting this February. But for those of us who can't wait until then to get more of Kate Kane, DC will be releasing a very special Batwoman #0 that bridges the gap between Greg Rucka's Detective Comics run and the new ongoing.

JH Williams will be joined by artist Amy Reeder as the two split the art chores on a script written by W. Haden Blackman and Williams. Reeder, of course, is the artist in line to take over art duties for the second arc of the Batwoman ongoing.

To take a peak at Reeder's lovely variant cover for Batwoman #0, hit 'READ MORE'

Two-Face Takes Over Arkham City
Video GamesIt's really been no secret that Two-Face (aka Harvey Dent) would be a focal point for the upcoming Batman: Arkham City video game but up til now no one was sure exactly what he would look like. There's been so many iterations of the character over the years, including the more recent The Dark Knight appearance that it's hard to tell exactly where Rocksteady was going to go with his design.

Would it be the green face of the comics? The almost turquoise look of Big Bad Harv from BTAS? Well, the most recent issue of GameInformer has a huge story devoted to next year's smash hit including a look at some of the in-game renderings for Harv as well as Catwoman! Some poor soul was nice enough to post some rather fuzzy pics of said issue, but really, you should pick up the issue yourselves. It should be on stands, if not now, than any time now.

"Secret Origin: The Story of DC Comics" Documentary
DC NewsWarner Home Video just put out a release promoting the new DC Comics bio documentary due to hit stores November 9th.

ETA: Let me just state that a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of not only interviewing some of the people behind the projects (which will be posted soon) but I also got to sit down and watch the entire piece from beginning to end. And I was genuinely entertained. Not only was I so entertained, but as is the case with all good documentaries, I was also informed by it. So much so that despite the fact that I essentially saw the entire thing for free, I'll still be going out November 9th to pick up my own personal copy as well.

So you should too.

With most of the Bat-Books going on a one month hiatus, the month of October will be dominated by a series of One Shots showcasing just how Bruce's return affects the various members of the Bat-Family who have all since adjusted to his absence. From Red Robin, to Ra's al Ghul to the Outsiders, the month-long event will also feature a series of inter-connected covers by Shane Davis. GameInformer Batman: Arkham City Covers
Video GamesWhen last year's Batman: Arkham Asylum video game hit stands and blew everyone away, a sequel was all but a given. Heretofore known only as "Arkham Asylum 2" the tentative video game has been on the minds of Bat-Fans and video game nerds alike. Just recently however, developers at Rocksteady confirmed that the game - now known officially as Batman: Arkham City - will be released on Playstation 3, X-Box 360 and PCs everywhere in Fall 2011 (source).

Yes, as the ad copy states, "Darkness Falls on the Streets of Gotham" in 2011, but that's not all! Venerable video game magazine GameInformer just released two jaw-dropping versions of their September cover featuring Arkham City's Batman and (wait for it...) Catwoman! And wait, is that Two-Face's ugly mug in the background?!?

Click 'READ MORE' to see them both for yourself! Oh, and be sure to keep an eye on GameInformer's Batman: Arkham City Hub for more information!
