Action Figures & Dolls - Action Figures - Animated - The Batman ShadowTek - Series 1 Vehicles - The Batmobile
Batmobile
The Batman ShadowTek: Mattel, 2006. Asst K4023, SKU# K4023
A new line of The Batman action figures, ShadowTek brings out another new Batmobile. It shares very few design cues from previous The Batman Batmobiles. It has the re-enforced battering ram front end from the first Batmobile and it has translucent blue fins and lights and sounds, but that’s where the similarities end.
It’s longer and leaner than previous Batmobiles with a wider stance than some, but not others. It’s more missile like with side pods that pop out with projectile firing cannons in them. It reminds me of the Iceglow Bathammer from Batman and Robin a little bit. There are various electronic sounds and lights. A red teardrop shaped button on the hood lights a red light on the nose and a blue “Bat Signal” style light on the hood. Also pressing the lever at the rear to deploy the side cannons sets off the lights and sounds as well.
There is also less on this Batmobile than others. There is no inside detail except for the seat. No decals of gauges or controls on the dash or inside panels, no steering wheel and no seat belt either, which is something that is on all three previous Batmobiles. At the rear there is no afterburner or flames, in fact it’s the blandest part of the whole car. Almost like they forgot about it during design.

SPECS:
The Batmobile is 13 ¼ inches long, 5 7/8” wide (side pods closed) 8” wide (side pods open) and 4 3/8” high. Side pods pop out and each has a projectile launcher built in them. Electronic lights and sounds.
PROS:
It’s a new Batmobile. I think it’s better than the last EXP Batmobile version earlier this year but still not as good as the original The Batman Batmobile from a couple years ago.
CONS:
As a toy there are no real cons, however as a Batmobile design it could have been better. There are a few design cues carried over from past designs, but not enough to satisfy. I personally do not like the front wheels larger than the rear, to me that’s a major design miscue.
OVERALL:
It’s sturdy enough for hours of play and has decent value as a toy. There is a fair amount of detail, but it could have had lights to light up the sides when the side pods pop out like previous models had. Most The Batman figures should fit in it without any problems.
