This second series of 3 3/4" tall action figures was the spawn of Comic Action Heroes, Mego Corp's initial attempt at keeping in style with the latest toy trends. This line dropped three figures from the last, two of them being The Joker & The Penguin. But it did however include some shway new toys like the Batcave playset, filled will all kinds of great features, and the computer programmed Bat Machine. The most initial differences in the action figures themselves, were the lack of accessories and new straight legs, as apposed to the bent knees of the original Comic Action Heroes line of 1975.
Pocket Super Heroes were originally released in 1979 on a red blister card, and were later re-issued in 1980 on a new white card. Some figures have also been released on a denim-style card in Canada, U.K., and Italy.
Though a P.S.H. was a persistant toyline in which Mego Corp. tried to keep in style with, Mego inevitably met it's fate, as the company finally went under in '82. But with Mego Corp.'s innovative comic book toylines like 'The World's Greatest Super-Heroes!' and 'Comic Action Heroes', it will go down as a grandfather of action figure lines to come. Many of which, Batman figure lines.
