Black Canary's first prominent appearance was in the the episode The Cat and the Canary where she asks Green Arrow for help in stopping Wildcat's addiction to cagefights. At first, Canary challenges Wildcat to a fight. If she wins he has to agree to stop fighting in cagefights, and if she loses she will leave him alone. However, right before the fight, Green Arrow knocks her out with a gas arrow. He takes her place and fights Wildcat until he uses a metabollic stunner to make him belive that he had killed him. After recovering, Canary thanked him and this act won her affection.
