December 25th, 1993 Bat-Fans got yet another taste for Batman on the big screen. This time around, The Animated Series would have its turn. The movie was originally a direct-to-video production. The story would center on Bruce Wayne's relationship with Andrea Beaumont. The story had Andrea leaving town suddenly, causing more hurt in Bruce's life. Years later, she would return. At the same time, a new villain emerges, killing off all the mob bosses. Batman must face this new villain, along with the Joker while Bruce as to deal with the return of his old love.

Mr. Freeze is quietly living out his life in the freezing Antartic tundra with an Inuit indian boy and Nora, Freeze's cryogenically-suspended wife, when a U.S. Navy submarine unexpectedly surfaces. The ship rips through Freeze's cavern home, sending multi-ton blocks of ice flying everywhere. In the process, the cryo-chamber Freeze's wife is suspended in becomes damaged -- forcing Freeze to return to Gotham City in seek of the technology and resources necessary to save her. It's a desperate mission for Freeze, one that immediately pits him against Batman and Robin.

The characters, though animated, are not mere cardboard cut-outs and have been developed. You sympathize with them, where appropriate, and root for and against them when it counts most. Audiences can't help feel the pain and anguish Freeze is experiencing. A terrible accident turned him into a freak of science, further shredding an already battered psyche beaten by his wife's apparently terminal illness. The accident with the sub forced his hand, causing him to seek desperate, in-human measures to save his wife: in order to do so, he needs to perform an organ transplant, using the first available match -- Barbara Gordon.
