EPISODE NUMBER: 21, Production Code 208
PLOT SUMMARY:
In the middle of heavy snows, Firefly commits a break-in at a technologies firm then is pursued by the police and Batman. Batman launches on to him with a cord and Firefly lifts off then sets a tanker truck of gas of fire to knock Batman off. The police close in on Batman, who summons the Batmobile on remote to make his escape.
Batman contats Yin at the tech firm as they try to figure out what Firefly took. In an underground lair, Firefly delivers to ... Mr. Freeze. Freeze is unhappy at the Batman's intervention into his plan to permanently freeze the city. At Wayne Manor, Alfred notes the police gala is going to continue despite the weather, with Bruce's financing, and that Bruce is trying to get the public recognition as a philanthropist that he can't get as Batman. Bruce picks up on another break-in at Wayne Industries and take off. Mr. Freeze is freezing is the entire place and prepares to steal a bunch of liquid-nitrogen canisters, but Batman arrives and intervenes. Batman is caught by falling ice as Mr. Freeze moves in on him with a heated probe.
Batman uses a batarang to knock open a tank of liquid nitrogen, immobilizing Freeze long enough for him to get free. Then Batman uses the heated probe to shatter the ice, sending Freeze into the tunnels below where he make his escape. In the Batcave, Bruce tries to put together the pieces as the Policeman's Gala begins. Meanwhile, Freeze and Firefly have taken over Gotham's central heating with their "cyro-accelerator." Bruce has to listen to Rojas' ranting about Batman and Yin gets him clear. Yin tells him she "knows his secret" and talks about his other side, but she's only talking about how he cares despite his playboy facade.
Freeze prepares to test his cyro-accelerator on the building where the Gala is. In the idle of his toast, Bruce is interrupted by the increasing cold and bursts of ice. The cold spreads outwards, freezing the policemen and Bruce just as he gets out the Batwave and activate a heating wave that frees him. Bruce summons the Batmobile and uses a searchlight to start freeing the other policemen, then dons the mask and cowl and goes after Freeze and Firefly at the central heating plant. Batman and Firefly face off as Batman tries to get to the reset switch for the furnace, then lures Firefly into damaging the cyro-accelerator. An angry Freeze freezes Firefly for his transgression then goes after Batman himself as he tries to hack through the ice. Batman is frozen but his heater frees him and then Firefly frees himself and turns against his employer. As the two villains fight, Batman uses the heated probe to get at the switch and turn the heaters back on. Freeze defeats Firefly but goes directly into the furnace as it switches on, "thawing out" Freeze so Batman easily defeats him.
At the Gala, everyone has revived and they find Freeze and Firefly tied up outside but the patrolmen reveal it was Batman who brought them in, much to Rojas' dismay. But the public realize it is Batman who saved them and start to applaud as a satisfied Bruce departs.
