PRE-CRISIS
Vicki Vale first appeared in Batman's life when she went to the GOtham Yacht Club to Photograph the members. she was romantically attracted to Batman (and sometimes Bruce Wayne as well), and she repeatedly suspected they were the same person.

Often Vicki had her suspicions regarding Batman's identity. Batman would usually manage to fool her into concluding that he was not really Bruce Wayne, but then her suspicions would reemerge.

Vicki remained a prominent character in Batman's life until the day that she left Gotham to marry. When she returned she was Mrs. Vicki Vale Powers. The Reunion was breif and she once again left Gotham. Years later when she once again returned, she was no longer married and had been living in Europe. She became a romantic interest of Bruce Wayne again, earning the wrath of Catwoman and Julia Remarque, the daughter of Alfred Pennyworth and Mdme. Marie. (Julia Remarque was wiped from continuity after Crisis on Infinite Earths).

POST-CRISIS
Amoung the so-called "Fourth Estate" of professional newspaper reporting, Vicki Vale was highly respected and acclaimed for her determination in rooting out the truth with her writing. In Gotham City social circles, Vicki was also known for her on-again/off-again romance with Bruce Wayne, who despite caring deeply for Vicki, was ultimately unable to reveal to her the fact that he was Batman. Inthe past her relationship with Bruce drove Selena Kyle into fits of murderous jealousy. On one occasion Selina caused the car Vicki and Bruce were traveling in to plunge into a lake. Vicki would have drowned if Bruce had not saved her.

Vicki has since left both Bruce Wayne and print journalism behind and now hosts THE SCENE Tv Show.
