Marcus Driver is a detective in GCPD MCU. He teamed up with Detective Fields in a case and he recommended him to Gordon. Driver was the last detective to be chosen by Gordon before he retired. One day, they were assigned to the Lewis case: a kidnapped 14 year old girl. A junkie gave them a tip about a possible whereabout of the victim. Charlie did not believe in him and he kept complaining that he'd rather return home to his wife. Driver, though, preferred to check it just in case. When they got to the apartment where they had been pointed to, they found no girl. Instead, Mr Freeze was hiding there. He shot Driver, but Charlie got in the way to save his partner. Driver got his hands frozen, but Fields was totally turned into ice. He started to mutilate Fields so that Marcus would tell him who sent them to him. Marcus did not even try to resist. He told them that they were investigating a kidnapping. That seemed to puzzle Mr Freeze, even though he apparently believed him. After that, Freeze broke Fields into pieces to give Driver a lesson on loss. Fields managed to survive. He was rescued and sent to ER until he recovered the use of his hands. He could not get over his partner's death, though. Fields had always said that the police department depended too much on capers. Hence, he made up his mind to solve the crime without the help of the bat-family. Commisioner Akins did not give him much time, though. Mr Freeze was far too dangerous to avoid Batman. Captain Sawyer assigned the case to Montoya and Allen, and they stopped Mr Freeze with the help of Batman. Driver made up his mind to solve the Lewis case himself in memory of Fields. He teamed up with Chandler for that case and tthey succesfully captured the killer. Driver activated the Bat-signal to tell Batman that he did not need him to do his job. Batman made it clear that he should never do it again.
