Ulysses Hadrian Armstrong was a mal-adjusted child growing up in a regular family when his parents shipped him to Valley Pines Military Academy. There, beaten and tormented by his schoolmates he sought solace in the halls of the school library where he spent his time reading countless volumes of military history. One day, after burning the school (with all of its students) to the ground - Ulysses hitched a ride to Gotham City where he set about taking over Gotham's gangs and incorporating them into his own 'War Dogs' faction- earning himself the name 'General.'

With military stars shaved into his head and dressed in historical garb he and his gang acted out crimes based on military history before being taken down by Batman. He has since broadened his criminal horizons earning himself the attention of other heroes within the DCU Universe including Robin.

Recently Ulysses has re-appeared as a young man working with Spoiler during the fall-out from Batman RIP.
