PLOT:
Detective Shancoe's wife is laid to rest and Geoff begins to drink again, spending his days watching and re-watching his wedding videos. Meanwhile, Batman is blaming himself for the wife's death. On the day of Joker's sentencing hearing, Joker steals one of the guard's pens and stabs him in the jugular. He gets up to the drivers seat and crashes the SWAT van into a lamp post outside of the courthouse, killing the other driver.

Regardless of even these crimes, at the hearing Joker refuses to plead not guilty by reason of mental defect or disorder. ADA Harvey Dent, the prosecutor for the case does not object and wants Joker tried for Sutton's wife's murder as well. Joker is remanded back into state custody as his lawyer all but gives up on him. Sutton, showing up drunk to the hearing, leaves early saying nothing to his colleagues on the way out.

After the gavel is slammed and the case is closed, Joker flicks a peanut into the Judge's drinking water. Upon sipping from his water the judge seemingly has some kind of allergic reaction and keels over dead. The Joker continues to laugh while the courtroom (including one Bruce Wayne) stare in horror.
