TITLE: The Whirling Warriors

PLOT:
Gunnda is crowned Queen of the Festivals. Jon asks to dance with her, but he is challenged by Toke the Red-Bearded. To resolve the dispute, the two vikings compete in a series of three contests.

During the first contest, to retrieve a rare egg, Toke knocks Jon off a cliff and wins the challenge. Jon suspects the attack was intentional. During the next challenge, Toke again tries to kill Jon and make it appear to be an accident. Jon escapes danger and outwits Toke to win the round.

For the final challenge, Jon and Toke are tied with ropes to a pole. The object is to swing around the pole and cut the competitor's rope. Instead Toke aims at Jon's body. Expecting the attack, Jon is able to avoid the blow and cut Toke's rope. Jon wins the challenge and earns a dance with Gunnda.

TITLE: The Robber Baron of Forest Perilous

PLOT:
When a Robber Baron threatens to steal a shipment of jewels, Sir Oswald sends them along with Lady Celia unguarded and without her knowledge. When Brian Kent learns about the shipment, he worries for Celia and decides to act as her guard. Before he can reach her, he receives word that she has been captured by the Robber Baron. Brian then dons the armor of the Silent Knight and rescues her and the jewels from the baron's castle. He successfully saves them both, though Celia begins to notice that the mysteriously familiar.

NOTE:
Beginning with this story the name of the Silent Knight's nemesis changes from Sir Oswald Bane to Sir Edwin. Since Brian Kent's father was known as Sir Edwin, it can be assumed that the writer confused the two names. Subsequent stories continue to use the name Sir Edwin, but for the purposes of this index, he shall be referred to by his original name, Sir Oswald.
