PLOT:
The gigantic reptilian Jimmy Olsen and Darkseid battle each other throughout Metropolis, causing mayhem and madness wherever they go. Meanwhile, Ray Palmer has evaded the Apokoliptian anti-bodies and continues his trek throughout the inner regions of Jimmy's brain in search for a solution. Finally Ray stumbles across a gigantic "soul battery" within Jimmy's medulla oblongata. Palmer disconnects the battery (causing Jimmy to shrink back to normal size and shape) and smashes it, freeing the powers of the New Gods.

Before Ray can suffer the wrath of the evil ruler of Apokolips, a boom tube fills the sky and Orion, hurt and on the verge of death, steps out and challenges his father. Superman and the other Challengers attempt to aid Orion but he waves them off. Orion plans on tackling his father on his own.

The battle between the gods rages and eventually ends with Orion ripping out the hellish fiery heart of Darkseid, causing the evil despot to explode and fulfilling the prophecy of long ago. As Orion stumbles away from the crater of Earth where his father once stood, Superman tells the others to let the New God go off on his own. The time has come for the New Gods to die.
