PLOT:
The mayor orders Commissioner Gordon to call in Batman to help stop a gang of smugglers. Batman enlists the aid of a costumed hero, Mysteryman to assist against the smugglers. Vicki Vale wonders why Batman needs assistance and sets out to learn Mysteryman’s identity. First Vicki believes the new hero is a robot; then she thinks it is Superman. Eventually she learns that Mysteryman is Commissioner Gordon. Gordon had been working on the smuggling case, but didn’t want to disregard the mayor’s order to turn it over to Batman. With the smugglers captured, Vicki announces her discovery which Batman intended.

PLOT:
Lance Faber and his mob accidentally learn that fire weakens John Jones. They trick him with several fake fires to make him believe that he has developed an immunity to flame. Then the gang traps him at a fireworks display. John uses his martian powers to put out the fires before he grows too weak. John then apprehends the gang. They believes he only pretended to be weakened by the fire, so that he could trap them.
