Detectives Marcus Driver and Charlie Fields went in on some possible kidnappers to find Mr. Freeze. Fields was hit with the freeze ray, but Driver was left alive as a warning to the rest of the police. He asked Akins not to shine the signal - he The second frozen body turned out to be Freeze's associate, Danny. Questioning known associates got the GCPD nowhere. After also getting nowhere with local diamond merchants, they heard from a street thug about $20 million in diamonds stolen from a Russian mob. Driver realized from what Freeze said that he was going to hit the GSU graduation ceremony. He asked Akins to call in Batman. Batman was able to take down Freeze as James Gordon was awarded an honorary doctorate in criminology. After the ceremony, they got word about the kidnap victim Driver and Fields were originally investigating - she was found dead.the department to take care of the case without the aid of Batman. Renee Montoya got a call on another frozen body.
