The next thing Tim knows he's waking up atop a cold hard slab inside some cave surrounded by ninjas. Nearby is a Lazarus Pit. And suddenly Tim fears the worst! He's been brought back, his brain has been ravaged by the effects of Ra's Al Ghul's unholy resurrection pool! He jumps up to battle the assassins surrounding him but the fight only results in the ripping of his stitches. He realizes that the killers around him mean him no harm. And he has not been baptized in the glowing green liquid of the Lazarus Pit. His life was saved by conventional means - surgery. As has Prudence's. But he has lost his spleen and she has lost her larynx.

Standing before him is the White Ghost. Not Dusan, Ra's al Ghul's neglected son who gave his very body so that his father could be reborn. But a new White Ghost. Just like the legions of Ubus who have served the Demon's Head, a similar lineage of White Ghosts now exists. Next to him is a man by the name of the Expediter. The black tie wearing business man is apparently Ra's version of Oracle. And they have a request.

Tim Drake is now perhaps one of the only people alive on the face of this planet who has seen the being known as the Widower, the member of the Council of Spiders who attacked them. For weeks, the League of Assassins has been targeted by the Council. And their game of sport has cost them fourteen loyal members. Now Ra's wants revenge and he wants Tim to lead his men into battle.

Seeing this as an opportunity to take down the League once and for all from the inside, Tim accepts. There's only one problem.. and her name is Tam Fox. And she's freaked!

Tim had never met Tam Fox before. She was Lucius's daughter, Tiffany's sister, who had been tasked with finding young Tim Drake/Alvin Draper for whatever reason. And it was her room that a beaten and bloody Tim crawled into and passed out nineteen hours ago. Now, for better or worse, it appears Tam Fox is along for the ride.

But this battle's origins can be traced back to another girl who was swept up by the tides of fate and forced to face an ugly future. Nineteen years ago a young girl named Vitoria was being chased by a band of local would-be rapists when she fell down into an unseen pit in the Brazilian rainforest. As it turned out this pit was home to a nest of venomous Brazilian Wandering Spiders that immediately swarmed her, biting her 319 times. But instead of killing her, the overload of super-poisonous venom brought her beyond death. She became death. And everything she touched immediately died - including her attackers and then her own mother who rushed to embrace her when she returned home.

But that was nineteen years ago. And where that girl is today has yet to be seen. But it's safe to assume that young Vitoria is somehow connected to the Council of Spiders that now threatens to wipe out all of the League of Assassins including Tim!
