TITLE: City on Fire
WRITER: Paul Dini
PENCILER(s): Dustin Nguyen
INKER(s): Derek Fridolfs
COLORS: John Kalisz
LETTERS: Steve Wands

CHARACTERS: Batman (Dick Grayson); Robin (Damian Wayne); Alfred Pennyworth; Commissioner James Gordon; Firefly (Garfield Lynns); Hush (Tommy Elliot); Victor Zsasz; Abuse; Mayor Sebastian Hady; Manhunter (Kate Spencer)

PLOT:
Firefly has the entire city of Gotham in his grip and he's happy as can be to simply watch it all burn to ash. But unfortunately he failed to clear this with his "employer" Black Mask who arrives at Club Vesuvius quite perturbed that Lynns would act out in such a way without his approval. What he also doesn't know is that Lynns has already taken the time to burn out the radioactive compound that Black Mask had coursing through his blood stream, effectively eliminating the huge leveraging chip Black Mask had over him. The tables turned, Garfield Lynns goes to wipe out his former employer but luckily for him the Dynamic Duo come bursting through the walls of Club Vesuvius in their brand new Bat-mobile saving the day.

By removing the combustion chip from the arm of the child prostitute Candi, Batman and Robin were able to track Lynn's signal back to the Club and stop his reign of terror. Firefly is apprehended but Black Mask is able to escape thanks to the help of Victor Zsasz.

While Batman and Robin race across Gotham putting out fires they continue to receive a little un-solicited help from the fedora wearing hulk Abuse. Continuing to leave his calling card, "ABUSE" stamped into the forehead of every criminal he comes across, Abuse claims to have some kind of connection to the Dark Knight. But the nighttime vigilante gig is an invite-only affair and Dick and Damian decide to put a stop to the giant's crimefighting spree and leave him unconscious with the others for the police to sort out later.

They return back to Wayne Tower only to discover that Tommy Elliot has escaped his cell! Immediately the Wayne boys put out an APB to all superheroes to be on the look for Elliot, whose new near identical likeness to Bruce Wayne could cause a lot of unwanted problems. Little do they realize that their search needn't extend further than their own front door.

Floors below, Elliot (as Bruce Wayne) stands outside Wayne Tower holding a press-release. In a move that shocks everyone, Elliot hands over a stimulus check for $1 billion of Wayne Company funds (no small sum even for the extremely wealthy Wayne family no doubt) to help the city of Gotham's fledgling economy. Already in their civvies, Dick, Damian and Alfred can only watch in horror as Hush continues to promise the public a check of equal amounts each month going forward until the financial crisis is past. Could "Bruce Wayne" be the one to finally take down the Batman-Empire?!

TITLE: Who In the Hell is "Jane Doe"?!
WRITER: Marc Andreyko
PENCILER(s): Georges Jeanty
INKER(s): Dexter Vines
COLORS: Nick Filardi
LETTERS: Sal Cipriano

CHARACTERS: Manhunter (Kate Spencer); Iron Monro; Matt Bensen; Dr. Jeremiah Arkham; Jane Doe

PLOT:
She's got a name. But that's it! Jane Doe is (appropriately enough) pretty much non-existent. Not even the DEO can find anything on her. And it's not like any judge is going to grant a warrant for Arkham's files based on the rooftop confession of a thug Kate roughed up. That is to say any files are left after the explosion awhile back. But, after some goading from her new intern Matt Bensen, Kate decides to shoot for the moon and ask Dr. Arkham himself for Jane's file.

Surprisingly enough, the über-creepy Jeremiah Arkham complies and hands over Jane's file. Jane Doe, whose natural form is that of a skinless meat-woman, is able to bond on a molecular level with whatever "skin-suit" she wears, thus able to assume the identity of her victims. Unfortunately for Jane, each new suit has can only last so long, leaving her constantly on the look out for a new person to field dress and wear.

Thoroughly creeped out (and once again reminded why she chose to keep her young son safe at home in LA), Kate leaves Arkham Asylum and heads back to her car to continue her search. But her search may have just come to her! As she reaches to start up the car, the skin-less visage of Jane Doe herself appears in her rear-view mirror. Reaching over from the back seat, she holds a blade to Kate's throat and demands her full cooperation.
