PLOT:
Superman brings the young boy to another lab where, using Dr. Langstrom's research, he attempts to cure the boy of the vampiric virus coursing through his blood. Unfortunately with each new transfusion of clean blood, the virus overtakes the healthy blood cells and continues killing the host. Ultimately the experiment fails and the boy dies. But before Superman can mourn the young boy's passing, the boy springs up from the table as a fully transformed vampire. Feeling cornered, the vampire dives out the window not realizing that the glass was UV coated to protect him from the bright sunlight outside. His body bursts into flames, burning him to a crisp before he can reach the pavement several stories below.

As Clark stands there clutching the charred remains of the boy he sought out to protect, Jason Blood arrives with a grim plan that could put an end to this whole fiasco. They head towards the Gotham City Park where they use the boy's corpse as a centerpiece for some macabre ritual gleamed from Dr. Comb's texts. Blood (having transformed into the Demon) proceeds with the ancient ceremony as countless creatures of the underworld begin to swarm around them.

Naturally when things begin to go south (as most things involving creatures of the undead tend to do), Janko and Dimeter join in the fray. Like most of their undead brethren, they were driven to the site by some unknown irresistible force. Unlike the others however, they manage to fight off their bestial urges and continue to help Batman and Superman lay waste to the monsters attacking them. Janko helps Superman wrangle the giant squid like beast from earlier and get position it on the ritualistic altar.

With the squid beast securely in place , Etrigan finishes the ceremony and after a brief light show the monsters are all gone. Although some of the vampires and werewolves have reverted, Janko and Dimeter have not. This causes Janko to feel robbed and he lashes out at Dimeter, blaming him for his condition. As the two nearly come to blows, Batman steps in the middle. As Janko retreats into the night he vows that things will never be the same between he and Dimeter ever again.

Further examination of the corpses leads the Demon to suggest that perhaps those who reverted back to human form were in fact second-generation vampires - transformed by a bite instead of an injection from Combs. Dimeter theorizes that this could mean that he is not the only vampire stalking the night but dismisses Batman's initial suggestion that he become some form of vampire hunter. Headed for parts unknown, Dimeter hitches a ride with his girlfriend Liv (the woman whom he feasted off of earlier) as Batman empathizes with the man - a misunderstood creature of the night.

Somewhere deep within the dark halls of Arkham, Dr. Herbert Combs begins plotting his next supernatural experiment. An evil smile pulls across his face as his twisted mind begins to imagine what type of horror he can bring about using the demons of Arkham and the demons of the underworld.
