PLOT:
The mall Diana Prince and Etta Candy were walking through experiences an explosion and Diana (as Wonder Woman) and Etta rescue as many people as they can. Someone new calling himself Swashbuckler who is super-fast arrives on the scene and claims responsibility for the explosion. He steals a kiss from Etta before leaving.
Bruce Wayne has been attacked by three wolves and quickly runs, changing into Batman away from the guests at his mansion. He then turns back to take on the creatures. Superman shows up to help Batman with the wolves. Batman is short and curt with Superman and has him take the wolves to the Bat-cave. There Nightwing discovers the wolves are Howlers, creatures that Batman and Robin have previously faced though Batman never made the connection. After seeing the disc they tried to mark Batman with they are able to trace their origin to Arthurian times through Merlin's Eternity book. Superman privately worries about Batman's growing rage and his inability to remember the Howlers. He himself has felt off-kilter recently.
Diana and Etta are called in by their boss, Sarge Steel, to the Department of Metahuman Affairs. He is telling them about the recent disappearances around the world of large groups of people. When Diana's partner, Tresser, questions why they should be involved, Sarge shows them film footage of the Crime Syndicate being involved in the German abduction. This prompts Wonder Woman to call Batman and Superman and show them the footage.
Swashbuckler turns over Etta Candy's security clearance badge to Morgaine Le Fey. He had stolen it from Etta when he kissed her

PLOT:
Later, Oracle is keeping in touch with Nightwing, Robin and Huntress who are tracking Gotham villains and possible destinations of the stolen artifacts. Nightwing encounters Swashbuckler who is fast enough to take off Nightwing's mask with a kind-of light saber. When he tries to leave with it, Nightwing activates his mask's self-destruct function and Swashbuckler is forced to leave without it.
At Arkham Asylum, Swashbuckler has broken in with an accomplice. While Swashbuckler occupies the guards his partner, the Trans-Volitional Man, floats through the wall of the Joker's cell and steals the Joker's laugh.
Swashbuckler and Trans-Volitional Man both seem to be two of the people created by the energy from the Cosmic Egg.
