PLOT:
During the early years of his career, Batman trusted next to no one outside his tight circle of confidants. The man didn't even fully trust the Man of Steel. But now, two Boy Wonders and a slew of costumed accomplices later, Batman finds himself wondering if he can in deed trust the new mysterious Goat-Masked vigilante. One week after the masked man saved Batman's hide at Arkham he shows up again. This time
it's to help nab a child predator while Batman is busy rescuing the child in peril. Could this newcomer really be on his side? He'll have to ask him if and when the "Goat-Man" stops for even a moment to talk before disappearing into the night again.
As the night gives way to day Bruce returns home to find Alfred waiting for him with a shot of wheat grass and the morning paper. But someone else is there waiting for him as well - Silver St. Cloud.
The platinum haired beauty serves as a painful reminder for Bruce. A reminder of the high price of allowing his heart's desires get in the way of his mission as the Bat. Despite the fact that she and Evan Gregory were never officially married, the (would-be) widow Gregory is still avoiding the usual club and party scene
now that he's passed. Realizing that she had begun to lose herself in the
confusing fog of grief she sought out the help of the one man she knew would
understand such an identity crisis. And even though she fully accepts that Bruce has since moved on since their brief affair, she hasn't. He's still the last man she truly loved. And now her sudden appearance is causing Bruce to wonder if they could perhaps rekindle that flame.
Regardless, that night it's back to work. This time he winds up in the lair of Cornelius Stirk. Stirk of course is a telepath who projects the image of his prey's desires into their heads before slicing them open and devouring their hearts. This is all old hat for Batman. And luckily for him, the mysterious goat mask vigilante is there to provide backup. Or is he?
Batman realizes all too late that the Goat Man's presence is nothing more than a projection from the mind of the twisted cannibal he's facing. And for his miscalculation he suffers an axe strike upside his head. Silver St. Cloud might not get a chance at Bruce Wayne's heart after all. Cornelius Stirk may be feasting on it by night's end!
