Hot Wheels Custom Motors: The Batmobile. Asst# R1228, SKU T3073

BATMAN Starter Set
Hot Wheels has had customizable cars with snap on parts like wheels, hoods, spoilers and such for a while. Now, they added the Batmobile from Batman Begins/The Dark Knight.
It’s a little bigger than the 1:50 scale Hot Wheels Batmobile, so my guess is it’s 1:43 scale or close to it. No scale is listed on the package. It comes with 21 separate parts that will snap onto the main body. It can be built stock, or add a new roof, treads, side mounted missiles and a rotating dual gun turret.

Hot Wheels claims there are 100+ combinations, but that’s just a bit of hype. Everything snaps on and off easy enough and stays on fairly well with little wiggle. There a realistically a handful of good combinations between the original wheels and the treads. The original wheels rotate, but the treads do not and have a small wheel in a slot under them so the Batmobile will roll.
I found these at Target and Walmart for about $8.00 on the Hot Wheels aisle along with other cars in the series. I don’t have the other cars, so I don’t know if or how well any of the parts from those kits work with the Batmobile. They are a lot of fun and offer decent play value. The Batmobile got destroyed in The Dark Knight, so what better way to build a new one than one of these kits.
Note: On the large one pictured you cannot put the wings under the gun turret. I modified this one to make it this way. The other Batmobile with the turret is how it is normally done.
