I heard that MATTEL will not make the 1/43 scale of the 66' batmobile. Also the 1/18 scale will be out in Dec 07-Jan 08. Has anyone heard this yet?sadsadsad

I had heard it, but haven't been able to confirm it yet. I sent an e-mail to my contact at Mattel, and he will let me know as soon as he can. When he does, I will post the news here.

The 1:64 Scale 1960's T.V. Batmobile from Hot Wheels has officially finally arrived in Canada, as I had finally saw 2 on this past Thursday, April, 12, 2007 at the Scarborough Town Centre's Bay store. I was able to pickup 2, 1 for me, and another for someone else. Here are 2 links from my message board postings at the Toy News International(TNI) message boards, as well as more info:

- http://forums.toynewsi.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=2032666&view=findpost&p=16326225

Since my posting, others at the Canada Area Reports section at the TNI message boards have stated seeing the Batmobiles. Both of the 1960's T.V. Batmobile I got has the textured/"Honeycomb" grill, and the package on both said "15/36 2007 First Editions: TV Batmobile"(Remember, there have been other ways that it has been worded as, such as "15/36 2007 First Editions: 1966 TV Batmobile", etc, not to mention package variaitons). Basically, here are 2 links from Hollywood Die-cast, with the 1st showing you the front of the Batmoible with the texture verison, and the 2nd to the "2007 First Editon: TV Batmoible" packaging, just to give everyone an idea on what I got:

- http://www.hollywood-diecast.com/HW%20TV%20batmobile%20FE%20card.jpg

Next, I have found out that Hollywood Die-cast's 1960's T.V. Batmobile section has updated with some new pictures on some variants for Hot Wheels 1960's T.V. Batmobile, including variants on the car it's self ( Like the hub cap designs on the wheels having "5 Holes" , instead of the "Star" Shape ) , and package variants(Such as the smaller style packaging ) . Go to this link and check out the pictures:

In Canada, I should note that the smaller style Hot Wheels packaging for their 1:64 scale toys, I've only seen them sold in Loblaws and The Real Canadian Superstore(Both stores sell basic Hot Wheels 1:64 scale toys at $1.48). Haven't seen the T.V. Batmobile in this style of packaging in person, but I suppose it could be out in the near future.

Specer, Inzo and Gathamite I finally have the long awaited 66' HW 1/64 batmobile. My warehouse MGR picked up one for me, knowing how much I have been seraching for it. Of all the places I would not expect the store to carry them. SCHUCKS auto parts stores. Now I can rest for awhile, until I can get one more. I want to get another one to so I can open it up and play with it. Spencer I waited patiently and now I have one. big grin

Glad to hear that you found the 66
finally...And you have to get another
two or three to open up...
I just picked up eight more at a toy show
this morning...I recently found another
three Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts and
Traded one T-hunt for four Bats and the other two
T-hunts for two more...Then I had two Matchbox
Cadillac Hearses for trade and got two more...
I came out like a rat...
Plus I found two open mint Bats on E-Bay
for the price of $4.00...Plus $3.00 shipping...
Keep on the hunt...
I now need around 82 of these 66 Bats to total
100...BatSymbol2yes

I just got to ask why you need 100 of these Batmobiles? I've got 7 (all mesh grille) so far and I would like some of the variants, but there is no way I want 100 of these cars. Just curious is all.

Well its because someone has to
do it...
Then maybe someone else would top
my 100...
It would make a great picture for this
site...
The real question is...

Can I find these Bats before the year
is over???

Can anyone remember when they first
watched Star Wars back in 1977...
I saw it 37 times in the first year and
someone else seen it 44 times...
I really hate being second and do
want to be the first...

yes

See? All good things...yes

On a related note, I did a little touch-up work on my '66 model this weekend, and thought it would be fun to shoot it with the HW car:

I am just so thrilled right now. I have found another one at my local grocery store. I was there buying some chops for dinner and I happen to stand in the check out line and glance to the right and there it was. Now that I have two different variations, do you know qhich one would be more valuable? The 2007 first editions or the 2007 new models?big grinbig grinbig grin

As for value Iggi, I value them all and
for a profit stand point, its to early too
tell right now...With Hot Wheels things
can change real fast...

Well,

MONTHS after it "come out," I FINALLY saw one and bought it at a Target!

I get the feeling that I may NEVER see the 1/43 or 1/18 ones that I REALLY WANT!!!!

Any new news?

Forgot to post this yesterday, but I found another packaging option for the '66:

They also had this set with the correct animated-style car (with green stripes/glass).

I've also had the 10-pack as part of the list of packaging variants here. wink

People have claimed that both variants are available in the 10-pack, but there's only been visual proof of the textured grille version so far. It's very tricky because the car is harder to see in the 10-pack than it is on the regular blister, and extra-thick paint has led to erroneous "smooth" sightings several times.

Yesterday at the Sears at the Scarborough Town Centre, I saw like almost 10 of the 1960's T.V. Batmobile in single packaging. I picked up 2 for a firend of mine because they look like they were the "Smooth Grill" variant and he was sort of looking for that variant. It wasn't unitl this morning under better lighting that I realized that the grills weren't as smooth as I thought, because I could then see a bit of the "Honeycomb" pattern to the both of them.

Didn't realize that it was just the "Honeycomb" pattern 1 with a extra thick coat of paint. In normal lighting, you can hardly see the parttern, but in more bighter lighting, you can actually see the texture, but just a bit. Even if I had a digital camera to prove it, I don't think it could actually pick up on the texture, thus making it look smooth.

Unlike the normal Honeycomb pattern cars were you can actually see it well, the ones with extra thick of paint, you can't really. Still, probably the closest I'll get of ever seeing the smooth variant, even if it isn't really the smooth variant.

On a side note, I thought they had a 3rd smooth grill variant at 1st when I was at the Sears, but as I looked at that 1, I could barely make out the "Honeycomb" pattern on it but could tell that it was the thick paint one. Wonder if we should refer to the "Thick Paint Texture Grill" ones as a variant as well, since these are kind of wide spread?

I am a member of the Hotwheels Red Line club and asked them about the 1/43.

Hotwheels confirmed no 1/43 but stated they will be producing a 1/50 in 2008 confirmed

Anyone wants to see the e-mail let me know....I would not have a clue how to post it....when you get old like me that's what happens

Thanks for the update, Marcus!

A_Spidey_Fan, I think you hit the nail on the head: it's so difficult to see the faint texture through the thick paint on some of the cars, that it's very easy to call them "smooth" variants. For that reason, I would be very cautious about buying variant cars without being able to inspect them first.

Now that stinks, but only half way.
I REALLY want the 1/43, as almost ALL of the rest of my diecast cars are 1/43.
But, the 1/50 MIGHT look OK, dependent upon how large/small the car is in relation to the Corgi, Ertl, Yat Ming, Hongwell, Matchbox, Burago, Brumm, and other manufacturers in my collection.

Now if it LOOKS significantly smaller than the Corgi "1968" car, that would REALLY stink.
