As said on the last page of Battle for the Cowl, THE BEGINNING...
I have to say that this was one of the best comics that has come out this year having to do with the Batman. If you havn't read it, wait for the graphic novel and order it off of Amazon.
Spoiler alert!!!
Here is the last page of the comic--

So, as we guessed, Richard Grayson has become the new Batman, Tim Drake as Robin, and Jason Todd is dead FOREVER. And... Yes... Tim Drake is ALIVE. The kelvar was "thick." So much for realism. Just asking for those reading, does the new Batman and Robin series and the new Detective Comics: Batwoman have connections with BFTC about Nightwing become Batman and everything?

it wasn't just that the kevlar was thick, but tim slowed down his heart rate so he wouldn't lose as much blood; some kind of special technique he learned from batman or something. now that's unrealistic, hahaha. or as far as i know...it might be real.
so now there's 3 robins.
tim drake, damien wayne, and a red robin.
cool...i guess. tim drake made robin a cool character, and im not worried about red robin...but damien? i still don't like him yet, lol. i like his design though; it reminds me of one of my many robin designs from years back.

I havn't read the comic that introduces Damien being Batman's son but for some reason, I think he's pretty cool. The design is great. Although, I think he will play a simulair role like Terry/Batman Beyond or Jason Todd/Red Hood. I didn't remember that about Tim dieing, very realistic. The writers deserve more credit. And I was wondering HOW COME THE MEDIA WASN'T NOTIFIED ABOUT BATMAN DIEING?! Superman was (then returned) and now Batman is the number one hero in the world....

You guys totally got me interested in reading Battle For the Cowl. I've gone back and looked over the pages and I've read the synopsis and I've read the little bubbles of people talking. It's intrigued me. The whole story line intrigues me. Except for the part Batman being dead...that sucks.
Batman is the only super hero who I highly respect. But in any case, I want to get my hands on BFTC: Underground. I totally love Penguin's look in this comic. This is what drove me to wanting took look over each of the issues. And see what was going on in some of the other story lines.
I'm thankful I have you guys to keep me updated on what's going on. Because I'm just so confused with all the different stuff going on, it's hard to keep up.
Thanks again!

Tim isn't Robin. At the 'present time' until Red Robin is released, he's taking time out to recover or summat. As for Damian, the guy's been introduced in a way that everyone will hate him, and the first 12 issues of Batman & Robin is gonna develop his character into one that everyone will love. Trust me. And besides, the little dude's hilarious.

I liked BFTC. The story was good, but I would have liked it to have delt more with Dick comimg to grips with takeing on the mantle of the Bat. I understand it had to set up the other characters for thier new roles. I love Tim becoming Red Robin, I hate Damien Becoming Robin. Though I'm interested to see how he devlopes in that role under Dick. I don't think it will turn out well. Especially when Bruce returns. Counting downthe Days! |

It was such a relief when Dick finally called himself Batman in the BFTC. It was like Gotham will have order once again. Dick has grown up alot since the Prodigal son series after Bane broke the Batman's back. Also it is great that Tim is still in the picture. Tim is such a huge part of the Bat family that it would be to horrid not to see him grow up. He is very different then Dick. It is great to see him evolved.

well tim's gonna recover eventually, and once he does, there will be 3 robins. hahaha. unless tim is red robin..but that doesnt explain robin and red robin together in that one cover.

I wasn't paying attention to Battle for the Cowl but if Dick is Batman, Damien is Robin, Jason is dead (I think), and Tim is injured, who is Nightwing?
I'll most likely stay away from comics until Bruce returns to become Batman once again. If that doesn't happen...then I guess its no more Batman for me.

The Only Nightwing in the DCU right now is the Nightwing starring in Adventure Comics protecting Metropolis.
It's pretty much been confirmed by Blackest Night #0 that Tim is Red Robin but we'll know for sure in a few weeks.

I read BFTC yesterday and I was a little let down. I am also a little confused. I like that Dick took over being Batman, I think it is in good hands again until Bruce returns, if he returns. I thought Tim was still Robin at the end of BFTC and that Damian was still Damian. I don’t understand Red Robin at all. I thought that was a character from Kingdom Come and not part of the Batman Canon. Perhaps that changed and now he’ll count. Who was Red Robin in Kingdom Come?
Thought BFTC would have been less predictable than it was. Jason coming back was a nice touch, but I would have liked to see more players battle for the cowl. More conflict between Dick and the new Batwoman perhaps.

Red Robin was originally invented in Kingdom Come, where he was portrayed as Dick Grayson re-claiming the Robin mantle from Tim. But in 52 Jason Todd took the mantle of Red Robin when he traveled to an alternate universe where Red Robin had been a side kick to Batman, he subsequently abondoned the title soon after returning to his own universe. I don't understand how exactly whoever Red Robin is now took the mantle, but it probably has to do with Todd's short tenure as that hero.
