 i kno im really annoying, but just please answer it, im a huge batman fan and i am wondering if you could tell me how i can make a custom figure. It is a stupid question but plz answer it.

Well, a lot depends on what type of custom you want to do. Simple repaint? Parts swap? Create altered parts? Full scratchbuild? The amount of work you're considering will help us answer.
kpangilinan, I personally like Krylon, Duplicolor, Rustoleum, and Testor's acrylic. Vallejo paints are supposed to be excellent, but I haven't tried them yet. The only real rule is to avoid enamels: they react to the plastic used in most action figures, and as a result will never dry. Stick with acrylics whenever you can.
Also, keep a can of Testor's Dullcote on hand - it works wonders for sealing everything together and providing a good, non-shiny look.

So if lets say I wanted to repaint the series 3 Batman, the one with the Jim Lee head from blue cape and cowl to black, I could use acrylic paint? |

i will probably use most of my time on this, to make a awesome Batman AF even if it takes a year. And i would like to do part swap or something or if its not like insanley hard, make it from scratch?

kpangilinan, yes - you can snag a bottle of flat black acrylic and a brush from Wal Mart for a couple of bucks. That would be all you need to do a repaint like that.
Batman_Freak, I'd say most people would classify sculpting under "insanely hard." 
Even though the site is Star Wars-based, The Forgotten Force Untimate Resource Guide (ffurg.com) is an excellent resource for custom figure basics. You can apply their knowledgebase to pretty much any custom project.

No problem.
If you want spare parts, just keep an eye out at discount stores, sales bins, yard sales, and flea markets - anyplace that has cheap figures. Try to find any figures with cool looking parts that can be used for custom projects.

well wat if its like not looking right, like a Batman TAS figure torso with a BB head and a The Batman leg and arm and it looks weird like that? any way that i could make an AF in a different, if you could, plz explain the different ways id appretiate it a lot!

Isn't it about experimentation and seeing what works and what doesn't? I don't think someone can tell you the exact steps because how they customize a figure could be different from how you want to do yours. I think one of the things i notice is that the parts all have to look the same in terms of design and has to be symmetrical. The example you provided with all those different Batman figures reminds me of the disfigured toys from Sid's room in Toy Story. It should be one smooth design.
Then again, I could be totally wrong, but do you want a detailed instruction manual of what to do? |

I have made a couple of custom action
figures in the past and I would try that arm,
maybe this leg or even cut here and there...
Just remember that with trial and error,
you will get better in time...
Now make a Batmobile...
We could always use another mechanic...

Absolutely, there are no hard & fast rules about what goes with what. Just experiment like crazy, and know that if it looks good, it is good.

I would try to customize but I don't like breaking toys, lol. The only customization I'd do is repaint but I'd have to get another copy of the figure so I can have the original and the custom. |
