I'm Mittens, a.k.a. the King in Yellow. I'm a Manc, support the Blues, currently at college studying music technology, and I'm propa into Hip-Hop, although I don't discriminate against other genres (although I think the likes of Grime, Pop, and 80s Cheese are completely as a whole)
I liked Batman pretty much all my life, but my interest was reborn through Batman Begins, and in the absence of news regarding the sequel, I started getting into the comics. I'm now a full-fledged comic geek (as far as Batman's concerned, at least), but I despise super-powered heroes. I prefer the whole 'realistic' (or 'hyper-realistic') approach to these stories, especially when it deals with the 'mob vs masks' dynamic.
I tend to use message boards as an entertainment outlet, but here I'll probably participate in nerdy discussion about Batman-related banter until I get bored with the franchise again.
So, who wants to be the first to make the +1 post count reply of "Hi, welcome to BYTB"?

Obviously it's Batman, but I really liked the characterisation of Tim Drake during the War Games arc. The writers really made him relatable to the vast majority of their audience, so it was a nice touch to the story. He's a bit too emo though for my liking, although he's bound to be considering the amount of time he chills with Bruce.
Nightwing's always been a firm favourite too coz of how cool he acts, and how stylish he is in the way he operates. The street-camouflage car is better than a few of Batman's rides too.
One character who I think is often overlooked is the Cassandra Cain Batgirl. I reckon coz everyone's got their 1 inch super-glued to a poster of Barbara Gordon, she hasn't been properly accepted. At the end of the day though, I'd say she's the perfect partner for Batman. No talking, no questioning, no bright colours that could potentially give away their position, just back-up muscle that keeps with the whole bat theme.
I kinda like Spoiler, coz she works well with what she's got, and although she gets herself into a lot of trouble, she can get herself out of it without the need of anyone else, which is more than can be said for a lot of F-list heroes (yeah, she's that low down..)
As for Huntress though, I kinda like her, but she's way too annoying. Blatant wannabe, and a bit of a dumbar$e.

Welcome to the boards. You are pretty spot on in characterizing the way the supporting bat-family is now. You should read a few comics from before No Man's Land to check out how much better they were handled. There was a time when I would not think about not picking up Robin or Nightwing, but when the creative team changed things really went downhill.
The main bat titles have really strengthened up in recent years. They're about the only ones that I would recommend to people. Except for the continuity heavy past few months.
