The wedding of Reed Richards and Sue Storm is interrumpted when the herald of Galactus, the silver surfer arrives to the city, but that's not the only thing the FF must worry about, 'cause Dr. Von Doom's back in town with full doom!

Tim Story returns to direct Rise of the Silver Surfer with Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans, Ioan Gruffudd, Julian McMahon and Kerry Washington reprising their roles. Doug Jones and Beau Garrett appear in the sequel as the Silver Surfer and Frankie Raye, respectively. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer has a target release date of June 15, 2007.

Reed and Sue are married early in the film. The film's remaining story will center on the appearance of the Silver Surfer on Earth, as well as the return of Dr. Doom.
The traditional connection between the Surfer and Galactus seen in the early Fantastic Four comics has not been confirmed, but Tom Rothman, Chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment, has confirmed that Galactus will also appear in the film. Rothman also stated directly in an interview that "fans will not be disappointed".
Tim Story has confirmed that Doctor Doom, seen defeated and frozen in his metal form at the end of the first film, will make a dramatic return in this movie and "he will be back in full DOOM, not like we had him in the first film."Actor Ioan Gruffudd has confirmed that Julian McMahon will be back for the sequel.

What we know so far: (major spoilers ahead)
The big event early in the film will be the wedding of Sue Storm and Reed Richards. Interestingly, Jessica Alba has admitted that her character will actually be part of a love triangle in the sequel. During the ceremony, however, Sue will have to prevent a helicopter from crashing into her wedding. According to Alba, her character is the most powerful of the four and will reveal an ability that people have never seen before.
In what seems like a bit more of an excessive idea, Johnny Storm will be involved in a love triangle of his own. Model Beau Garrett will play scientist Frankie Raye, who becomes one of his love interests. The other will be played by sexy MTV hostess Vanessa Minnillo. As far as The Thing?s girlfriend Alicia Masters is concerned, actress Kerry Washington promises that her character will have a far more important role this time around.
The Baxter Building, the fictitious 35-story skyscraper in downtown Manhattan where The Fantastic Four occupy the top five floors, will be revamped with a multitude of Reed?s high tech gadgets. The ?4? logo will reportedly be everywhere as the group has now officially become a corporation. Story has also mentioned that the foursome will travel around a lot in the sequel, perhaps in the Fantasticar, which has been confirmed to make an appearance. The Fantasticar is the Fantastic Four?s flying vehicle (duh) and will apparently be the cause of constant bickering between Johnny and Ben as to who should be behind the steering wheel.
Of course, the most important element of the sequel is named within the film?s title. Renowned physical performer Doug Jones, who also stars as the otherworldly Pan in Pan?s Labyrinth, has been hired as a reference for Weta Digital to render the Surfer?s movements into CGI. Consequently, the villain (or hero) will be entirely computer generated and with the type of technology available today, the results should be spectacular. The Surfer is likely to be the most interesting character in the sequel and not only because of his appearance, but also because of his moral complexities. History has shown him to be a fairly conflicted individual. While his initial purpose on earth is to destroy it, he is reluctant to do so and chances are that he may eventually stand by The Fantastic Four in the end.
Inevitably, wherever The Silver Surfer goes, the planet-devouring Galactus soon follows. Story claims that the movie will depict the super villain as a much more realistic character and not simply the cartoonish, purple-helmet-wearing giant found in the older comics. More recent comic book storylines have portrayed Galactus (under the name Gah Lak Tus) as an immense composite of city-sized robots that work together as one mind. Whichever version of Galactus the filmmakers happen to choose, his primary objective will still be to eat planet earth.
Finally, Julian McMahon returns as Dr. Doom and both he and Story have claimed that his character will be much more menacing than in the first film. Additionally, they plan to make better use of Doom?s intelligence this time around by having him go toe-to-toe with Reed gadget-wise. Story has also promised a big surprise courtesy of Dr. Doom. Some have speculated that he may steal the Silver Surfer?s powers, but that?s only a rumor at this point.
Here?s how the film is likely to play out: The Silver Surfer will oppose his master Galactus and will defeat him alongside The Fantastic Four. Frankie Raye, one of Johnny?s two love interests, will gain new cosmic power from Galactus and will become his new herald, Nova.

I'm not so sure about this. I like FF a lot, but the 1st film did absolutely zilch for me. It was too slick, too polished - just didn't like it. |

I didn't like the first movie much, but I have higher hopes for this one. I get the sense that the filmmakers are aware of the things people didn't like about the first movie, and are going to improve on it.

To me, the 1st film was almost like someone had read both Lee/Kirby's version, and then the Ultimate FF - and then said, right we're definitely doing the Ultimate version!
& then just got it wrong.........
(& don't get me wrong, I like Ultimate FF) |

I know it'll almost certainly never happen, but I'd love it if the next movie was an adaptation of the Zombie stories that were done in Ultimate FF. Those were just brilliant, especially the second one!

This one does seem to be better than the 1st one (I'm not getting my hopes up though). The first one seemed too soppy for me. Too melodramatic.

The movie looks promising.... The first one wasn't good for me.I agree with world_gone_bats, it was a little melodramatic.

I wouldn't say that melodrama was the first one's problem, in fact for me it was the opposite, it had no drama.
It was like, "Hey, let's watch the Fantastic Four hang out for a couple of hours, than watch them fight a Doom/Goblin hybrid wanna be for fifteen minutes."
