Well I can add Coach to my r?sum?. I?m now coaching my son?s 5 vs. 5 Flag Football Team. We play in the i9Sports League . Today was the first day and it was Exhibition. The first half we played one team and the second half we played another.
We won Game 1: 8-0 (we did 2 Point Conversions) and Game 2: 8-6 (again the 2 Point Conversion and we kept the other team from converting.
A 10 Game Season lies ahead of us.

That sounds like fun. Don't ask me how, as I never really played football, but you kinda have the look of a coach.

We won 20 to 0 in our first game. 3 Touchdowns (only one 2 point conversion was good). We even stopped the other Team when the intecepted on their 5 Yard line. They had 4 downs and we held them scoreless.

Well Week Two and my team The Intimidators was up against an unbeaten team called the Saints. Just like those other Saints, this team lost. The Intimidators won 19-0 after rattling the Saints (who won 28-4 the previous week). The Saints never got a First Down and never crossed mid field. So not only is my team still unbeaten, we are un-scored upon as we shut out a second straight opponent.

Well my Intimidators were victorious yet again. 50-7 we beat the last place team in our division. We were up by two touchdowns on the third play of the game. They got a touchdown by running a quick play and my not getting out of the way in time (Coaches are on the field). Next week we play the first place team and one other in a double header.

We Won It All
The Intimidators, the i9Sports Flag Football team my son Kenny plays on and I Coach had The Perfect Season.
We went 7-0-0 in regular season scoring 176-19 Total Points posting four shutouts and accepting one forfeit. Only two teams scored points against The Intimidators during the season and one of those my fault when I was in the way on defense.
The Playoffs were closer as we scored a 34-15 Total Points between the first round playoff game and the division championship. Both were tough games and Team Elite, who The Intimidators had shutout twice in regular season became the third team to score against us, but still fell 22-8 in the first round.
The Division Championship game was against the second place Bulldogs (6-2-1). The Bulldogs were our toughest opponent and closest game of the season at 16-12, which was nearly, tied 14 all, except for a last play interception and run back by our Reggie Murray.
The Division Championship game was no different as it was a slugfest again coming down to the last play, which ended on fourth down with The Intimidators on defense. Again Reggie saved the first down by pulling the Bulldog flag only his momentum carried him into me standing on the sidelines. I thought my left leg would break on impact, but luckily it did not. The play was immediately called the “Paterno Play” by the parents standing by, referring to Penn State Coach Joe Paterno who was upended in a similar fashion during a game.
The Intimidators finished The Perfect Season 9-0-0 with 210 to 34 Total Points. I even had a cooler full of ice dumped on me after our game. It was great fun and I’m looking forward to coming back next season.
We were lucky enough to have one of the mothers be a photographer and took some brilliant action photos at all the games. I got nice frames at Target and printed 5X7’s of each team player in action and presented each of them with a picture and a custom labeled CD with all the pictures taken on it. I don’t think any of the other Coaches did anything like that for their teams. The parents then rewarded me with $90 in Gift Cards to Outback and Cracker Barrel, which was totally unexpected.
We finished the day with an exhibition game against Ryan’s All Stars. Ryan’s All Stars play in the next youngest division below ours, like The Intimidators, they went undefeated all season and their Coach likes to push his team to new challenges and wanted to play the only other undefeated team in our league. Ryan’s All Stars is not quite like our team. They are not a group of kids who did not know each other and signed up to play like we were. Ryan’s All Stars plays on the State and National Level and is ranked 3rd in the Nation in their age division.
Ryan’s All Stars are good, they were the only team to score against us first. Our only salvation was older and slightly taller and faster kids, in particular Reggie who is our tallest and fastest. The Intimidators won 38-27 in one of our truly most fun games all season.
All but one of our teammates will return for the nest season Reggie just turned 15 and is ineligible (our group is 11-14). We also picked up a couple extra kids, a younger brother of one of our players and a friend of another. So in three weeks The Intimidators will be back to defend our title in the Spring 2007 Season
