I don't know much about Spawn but from what if seen I like. I've seen Spawn (live action) and Spawn 2 (cartoon) it's pretty cool. *jlbatman*

Eh, he's neat I guess. The story is kinda cool, and I love the comic art and action figures. My brother says he's just a rip-off, a couple characters combined into one. I think a lot of great characters are devised of attributes from others though (Batman=Superman, Dracula, Zorro, The Shadow, etc.), so I don't see it as a rip-off necessarily.
I saw most of the movie, which was pretty good from what I remember. The little bits of the HBO animated series were just strange though. Incredibly dark, as in, really hard to see what the hell was going on even.

I've tried the comics & show once or twice, but it never held my interest. The movie was pretty good, and I'm a pretty solid collector of all of the Spawn cyber- and robot-based figures. |

The comic started off really slow. I think that I stopped after the second issue. I hated the movie. It was lame, and just didn't follow a good story. Sure it looked great, but the story was boring. The cartoon was pretty cool. It pretty much verbatim followed the comic stories, as best I know.
They keep saying that there is supposed to be a new movie and cartoon, but it took forever before the cartoon came out the first time, I wouldn't hold my breath.

i rented the cartoon when i was like 12. and its not really the best choice as a middle schooler. and if u saw it, then ud know why.

I really liked the comic until around issue #24. After that, it seemed to freeze. Nothing happened. I would pick up and thumb through the occasional issue every so often for the next few years, but it seemed that all Spawn did was stand around in the alley whining to his homeless buddies. I was really excited about the movie, then hated it far beyond anything I thought possible. I have a couple dozen of the figures, though. there have been some really great ones over the years. I haven't bought any in a long time, though. In recent years, they've been made from extremely cheap plastic, and they break if you look at them. I see Spawn figures actually broken in the package at stores pretty frequently. It sucks, because they looks so damn good. Articulation has become a foreign word to McFarlane, too. I really liked the mid-to late '90s, I think the Spawn line was at its peak then. They weren't made from substandard materials, you could actually get them in almost any store that sold toys, and they were true action figures, rather than plastic statues. My favorite Spawn figure is probably the Mandarin Spawn. One of the most incredible sculpts I've ever seen on anything.

spawn did have some really cool toys. todd mcfarlane is the best at making toys...he did make them right? if not, then im just going crazy.

I have the live action Spawn movie on DVD. I?ve seen it once and it was OK. I thought the Clown stole the movie away from Spawn. I?ve never seen the cartoon and it?s not easy to find on DVD.
I have a most of the first series of Spawn figures when the company was called Todds Toys. They ushered in the super sculpted figures and still had decent articulation. The MacFarlane figures now are super detailed, but not much more than plastic statues. I have a few of just the ?normal? Spawn over the years.

Apparently when a company gets so big they lose their touch and corners get cut, and things just get crappy. All of the Alien Vs. Predator figures were even missing a big chunk of their display bases, for no reason. I started considering Palisades as the new standard of action figure excellence in terms of detail and paint applications when my brother started collecting the Muppets line. But now they too are getting crappier as they get more popular and busy with work.

Same with NECA. Recent releases from them have been pretty subpar, unfortunately. The whole debacle with the lack of quality control on the first few Masters of the Universe statues and busts has become legendary, and is probably the biggest example of this.
Right now, I think Mezco and Sota deliver the highest quality products on a consistent basis. Their stuff has excellent sculpts, very good articulation, and they're always good and sturdy. I've never had any problems with anything I've bought from those two companies.

You're right. I barely even think about it anymore - since I build models all the time, I always have a tube of glue handy. Usually the first things I do with a new Spawn figure are open it, break it, and glue it back together. It's just become a routine for me. The Matrix A.P.U. was the worst offender - both arms and the waist snapped like twigs beacuse they used such cheap plastic.
I think the last time I liked a whole series was the Manga Spawn series from '98 (not counting Interlink from '01, since they were all parts of one big figure). |

lets not talk just yet there bud, spawn cant be killed unless you cut off his head, and his mask is stronger than even supermans skin, the only way to kill him is to get the mask off.....and why would he take it off? lol plus spawns just so much cooler
