I do kinda think the concept of driving the Batmobile is odd. Doesn't he have to stop at stop lights and signs just like civilian travelers? Good thing he has tinted windows. That'd be akward sitting there at a stop light in the Batmobile while a golden retriever barks at you from the truck in the opposite lane.

Heh, great mental image. Like the elevator scene from Spider Man 2.

They usually make some comment about tinted or one-way glass, but there have been a lot of convertibles over the years...

Batman follow the rules of the road? Come on! Now that you mention it, though, I remember reading a BTAS comics story way back when I was like three (when BTAS first came out,) and I remember Batman a car chase between Bats and some crooks, and I remember a stoplight and the batmobile skidding to a halt while the fiends continued tearing through the streets.

I've thought about that before, too. One reason I never thought the convertible 'mobiles were the best idea. There's even an issue of Detective-- back in the days when ALan Grant and Norm Breyfogle were on the book-- where Batman is at a red light, and the guy in the convertible next to him is trying to get him to race when the light turns green. Not being a criminal I would not be scared of him. He?s on my side right a vigilante of the night taking on the criminals, not the honest citizens.

Think back to the first appearance of him in Batman back in 1989. Two thugs rob some people and go up to the roof to count the loot. One thug says to the other ?that the Bat got him? referring to another thug they know. All while Batman drops into frame silently behind them. Then Batman kicks some butt and holds one of the thugs out over the roof and says ?I?m Batman?. Still one of the best scenes ever.

That was the scene that heralded the end of the caped crusader and the beginning of the Dark Knight.
