Today is the official street date for the TF movie toys (yes, some stores have had them out already, but as of today you can get them everywhere).

OK, just got back from seeing it...yeah, that was about as awesome as anything that has ever been filmed
If you're even vaguely considering this movie, you have to see it as soon as possible.

Very nice review.. and to those who haven't seen it yet.. first.. GO NOW! Second, from here on out, there will be spoilers!
I thought pretty much everything was great. I liked how they introduced Sam AKA Spike from the G1 toon, to the Autobots. The fanboy in me jumped when I saw them transform for the first time, and when Prime brought out that sword..BAM! Grinning from ear to ear.
I did get a little bummed that Jazz had to die. I always liked him. As for the Decepticons.. Megatron is not dead. He'll be back. The others, it was ok to lose, and of course, Starscream.
I'm not sure how I feel about Cybertron pretty much being gone. I know in the G1 toom is was heading that way, thats why they came to earth, but at least they could go back. But, it alls well. I loved it and I eagerly await the next one, which I'm pretty sure will happen.
One final note.. I was disappointed that the Theme wasn't played at the end.. oh well..

Thanks! More SPOILER talk:
Yeah, I like the way they did the ending. The Autobots basically said that they didn't know what the AllSpark would do, just that it was likely to kill anyone that tried to host it. So it could very easily induce temporary stasis lock, while it's reformatting the host body. I don't think Barricade (Mustang Police Car) got killed, either. So he could still be around for the second movie. And Frenzy lost part of his head several times...so he could've survived as well.
I wonder if Jazz will stay dead. I assume so, based on the way they were talking, but since they're alien robots anything is possible.

Jazz: "You want a piece of me?!"
Megatron: "No... I want two!"
With these words Megatron viciously tears Jazz apart. Despite Ironhide and Ratchet's best efforts, Jazz does not survive.
However, a new released Jazz toy from Hasbro and Target with the G1 colors, has a description on Jazz's possible future: "During the long process of being rebuilt by AUTOBOT RATCHET, there was a lot of time to think. AUTOBOT JAZZ digs his Earth vehicle form, but the silver paint job had always left something to be desired. It got scratched too easily, for one thing, and dust stuck to it like cyberflies on old oil. Also, it wasn't nearly eye-catching enough. Just because he's supposed to be in disguise doesn't mean he can't be noticed. With help from BUMBLEBEE and AUTOBOT RATCHET, he picked this color scheme as the one most likely to get him appreciative looks from all the humans he passes on the freeway."
In a recent interview, the movie staff tell of a rumor that Jazz will be rebuilt in the possible sequel as a tougher frame. Maintaining the movie look, but with a different color scheme and slight modifications. It is suspected that his restoration is possible with the fragment of Allspark found in Megatron's chest once he is killed.

Lets hope they do.. I like Jazz. I've read that they want to introduce the Dinobots, the Constructicons and Soundwave.
It makes you wonder also, what other Autobots/Decepticons will be in the next movie.

saw it last night with a buddy of mine whose a diehard tf fan. it was his crowning achievement to finally watch his favorite toon and toyline make it to the big screen after we'd both spent so much time and energy a few years ago going on toys hunts trying to find figures of motu (for me) and tf (for him). he absolutley adored it and i thought it was great too. im not a tf expert so with my limited knowledge im not really sure if they got everything right, but honestly i dont care either since im not a diehard fan. lol, at various points thruout the film i just kept thinking about how much i wish a he-man movie would be made. i do think they did a good enough job to keep me entertained. bottomline, i just hope that this thing is successful enough that a motu movie can finally be done!

I think, we will start seeing more 80's toons now. WB is talking about doing a CGI Thundercats movie. There is talk of a GI Joe, and I do think He-Man will get made.
I'd like to see M.A.S.K. made into a movie as well...

I know Michael Bay had wanted an aircraft carrier TF, but it was deemed too difficult/expensive to add to this movie.

i really want jazz to come back. he was one of my favorites. if he doesnt, then whatever...he was cool in this movie. atleast we got jazz.
in the next movie, i'd like to see ultra magnus, prowl, smokescreen, sideswipe, and tracks. but i really want ultra magnus.
i hear they're bringing soundwave in...would he be an ipod? lol. i'm thinking they're gonna do what they did with transformers: cybertron. he might just be a cybertronian airplane with a cassette player to hold the spy bird(forgot name).

Just got back from seeing the remastered IMAX version of the movie - it's bigger, badder, and even more awesome on the 60-foot screen (plus they added a couple of minutes of extra material). The opening battle sequence literally rocked the house: each explosion felt like a kick in the chest. And Peter Cullen's Optimus voice was at it's most awesome. If anyone has an IMAX near them, you owe it to yourself to see it. Even if you already saw in in a regular theater, it's definitely worth another trip.

I totally agree - It opened at the Imax here (Waterloo - South London) on Friday night. It was excellent. That's the 1st time I've seen it. The bit where OP introduced himself was awesome. Sam Witwicky's mum and dad were funny too.
Definitely a must see in Imax format (if you live near enough one)
