So I?m at my local Comic Book store and there?s nothing really going on. They have the new DC Who?s Who Mini Figures in the Blind Box. Now, Blind Box means you have no idea what figure is inside. I?m not going to buy them all and I only want Batman and The Joker so I figure I?ll pass on them.

The guy ahead of me is a Superman fan and he wants Superman. He picks a box and after he?s paid for it he figures he?ll open it there to see what it is. I tell him if it?s Batman I?ll take if he does not want it. Sure enough it?s Batman, and I buy it off him. He decides to go for Superman and he buys another one. I tell him if it?s The Joker, I?ll take it. Sure enough it?s The Joker. So I went two for two and I?m happy. But he continues on, next one was The Flash, which I passed on, but next up he got his Superman.

So I went off to Toys R Us next. They had the Hyperposable Superman, so I picked one of them up. They still had the Series 1 DC SuperHeroes including the ?gray knee pins? Batman which I have not seen on the pegs for awhile.

Hahah. Pretty good luck. I guess I'll have to wait for some loose ones on eBay. I may get the Green Lantern one though too.

I sure hope Hyperposable Superman isn't a Toys R Us exclusive. I haven't seen it in Target, K Mart, or Wal Mart yet, and I don't think there's a TRU location around here anymore. The only two were closed out and turned into, eh, Baby Toys R Us or whatever.

I?m not sure if Hyperposeable Superman is a TRU exclusive or not. I was at another TRU today and they did not have him. You?re right about Target and Wal-Mart not having them either. Although I did see a Lex Luther (not the one in the green suit) (I only saw 3 on the pegs) at Wal-Mart today.

Good finds, congratulations. I've been considering the Whos Who Mini Figures for diorama fodder - how tall are the figures (or how tall would they be if they were standing upright)?

The DC Who?s Who Mystery Box Series 1 figures would be just over 2 ?? high. Quality is not bad considering the size. They need to be assembled. Batman has the base and cape. The Joker has the base and both arms to put on. One gripe I have is that each figure comes with a part of the Batmobile and the two pieces I have are two slightly different shades of blue, enough to notice.

Well I found Superman from the second series of DC SuperHeroes figures at Wal-Mart today. They had 5 or 6 of him, but just him, none of the other 3. This is starting to annoy me as Scarecrow from the first series is still on the pegs, but the others are gone. The exception seems to be TRU, which is just now getting the first series of these figures in. TRU really needs to clean house on their purchasing people and get with the program if they want to remain competitive. Target and Wal-Mart are killing TRU in the action figure arena.

Missile Launching Lex Luthor from the Superman Returns series was still on the pegs, but not the other Lex figure yet. I got one a couple days ago (see above post). The head sculpt is dead on and while it looks like a mediocre figure (action feature wise), everybody knows Superman has to have Lex Luthor.

Is it me or are the Superman Returns figures not getting the same exposure that Batman Begins did? While I see a lot of Super Returns figures, I recall seeing more Batman figures.

I was on vacation this past week, so I don't get to hunt as much. I did however find a DCSH Bane with Osito (pictures will come later) at a Target in Beaverton, OR. So they DO exist.

Well the Holiday Shopping Season is only weeks away and new figures are starting to hit the shelves. Personally, I hate this time of year because new figures come out and people who would not normally be buying them are getting them for presents making it even harder for the average collector to find them.

Toys R Us has just released their exclusive new Arkham Asylum: An Exclusive Criminal Collection, a six pack of The Batman figures with exclusive figures Poison Ivy and Ventriloquist and Scarface along with four other reissued figures (Mr. Freeze, The Riddler, Clayface and Criminal Capture Batman). There is a Chase Version too with the Mr. Snoots puppet instead of Scarface, although the box is still the same. At $39.99 these won?t fly off the shelves, but it is a great gift set so I expect them to sell out. Target has Poison Ivy and Ventriloquist and Scarface in exclusive three figure sets coming out too, although I have not seen them here yet. Those maybe a bit less expensive and maybe easier to find.

The DC SuperHeroes second Batman wave was released a few weeks ago (Azrael and Robin are the hard ones to find) and the next Superman wave is just now out. Two extra figures in this wave, both repaints of previous figures. I?ve seen only seen Brainiac, (a very cool figure) and the reissued comic style Superman (still kinda lame) from three years ago in a Wal-Mart. Overall these series of figures are a tough find at most stores. Toys R Us only put out the first wave down here. Target and Wal-Mart are the best places to get them. The Superman / Bizarro two packs are at Target, but not the Batman / Batgirl ones yet.

The Batman EXP has new figures out too. I've seen almost all of them on the pegs. A bunch of The Batman variants, but Metal Head, Blaster Batgirl and Ice Blast Mr. Freeze are the hard ones to find. Even Toys R Us is keeping pace with Target and Wal-Mart as they have these figures at the same time.

Need a Ninja Army? Still on the pegs at Toys R Us is last years 2005 Ras Al Ghul they are marked at $3.98 and still hanging there from a year ago. I bet I still see some on the pegs in January.

Yesterday, I found one new Metal Head figure and a couple of the Batmans from The Batman: EXP but no other villains. Metal Head's huge arm is a bit silly and the paint wasn't so great. A new Batman (Swift Shot, I believe) has a fine design except his chest is caved in all awkward.

No locations around here are really getting any new stuff in; although, my brother says Target just got in the Superman/Bizarro 2-pack (but I already have 'em both anyway). The whole scene is so irritating that other than occasional comics, I've been adding to my collection soley through flea markets these past months, basically finding neat old stuff.

I'm incredibly annoyed with Superman Returns. Batman Begins figures costed about $6 at first and would've easily been down to $4.80 by now (they're entirely cleaned out now, by the way). SR figures are still at least $6.98 in all locations, yet the S3: Select Sculpt figures are down from $13 to $7 at Wal Mart. How's that make any sense? I bought the S3's immediately when I first saw them, but I'm still waiting for the overstocked basic figures to drop. They're all over Wal Mart but won't even budge.

The paint looks OK on my Metal Head figure. I don?t usually buy them if I see obvious paint slop on them. Swift Shot Batman looks like Power Disc Batman but it?s not. I agree the concave indentation on the chest looks a little odd. Most of the new The Batman EXP figures are new sculpts, although there looks to be a couple reused ones too.

Ice Blast Mr. Freeze looks like he has a different head than the other Mr Freeze. I can?t see the indents ?eyebrows? Ice Blast has on his head on the original figures head. It may be just the way it looks through the clear plastic. I can?t imagine why they would do a new head. One day I?m going to cut the clear helmet off one of my extra Mr. Freezes just to find out.

I should have mentioned that I have not seen Card Attack The Joker down here yet either. Since this is a new sculpt I?m looking forward to getting one.

I expect the Superman Returns figures to hold prices through the end of the year. Target should have them all on clearance in January or February when they normally blow out the entire toy department.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only guy out there who has shopping frustration over not being able to find the latest Batman collectibles. I was able to find all of the wave 1 Batman and Superman DCSH figures at Wal-Mart. I later found wave 2 Superman at Meijer's. Later came wave 2 Batman at Meijer's, but I've only been able to find Batman and Robin. I'm still hunting for Mr. Freeze and Azrael. I don't know if Batgirl is going to be widely available, but I'd love to have her. She's always a hard find. I've seen pictures here, but she's not shown as an option on the backs of the Batman and Robin figures. I'll be hitting the stores daily as Christmas gets closer. I was pleasantly surprised recently to find Corgi's 1:18 2000 Batmobile in both blue and black models at Meijer's. I picked up both, 'cause I love my Corgi Batmobiles!
With regards to the Superman Returns action figures FlaBat, I believe that there are less of these than there was of Batman Begins, but it's close. I believe that there are about 14 SR figures, whereas I know of about 16 BB figures. I'm talking about the small ones only. I know of 6 BB PowerTek figures vs. 3 SR Ultra figures. Etc., etc. I've been surprised that the SR displays have continued to be so big for so long. I believe that stores are awaiting a resurgence of interest when the DVD comes out during the Christmas season. This may also explain why prices haven't gone down yet.
Happy shopping!!!

There are three versions of The Batman Catwoman figure.

The first was an SDCC Exclusive. It was in a wraparound window box inside a blind outer box. A lottery at the convention determined who could buy one. While the figure was the same there were nine different versions of the ?Idol? included with the figure. eBay is your best source to find one now.

The second was the Selina Kyle Catwoman. The figure was the same, but the head was Selina Kyle?s. The figure was on a normal The Batman Card Back, not sold on the Internet and select specialty stores, NOT retail. The Idol only came in Jade. Again eBay is the best place to find one.

The third is the first figure repainted in purple and is part of a Toys R Us exclusive 4 pack of figures. The Idol is clear. While eBay is good place to look, I still see some of these sets in local TRU stores.

While the Justice League Wonder Woman was pretty rare, the original Hawkgirl with the connecting blue base was even harder to find. Of course now with the JL/JLU 3 Packs it?s pretty easy to find both of those figures.

I was at Target today and picked up the JLU 6 Pack with Doomsday, there were only two on the shelves. They also had The Batman 3 Packs with Poison Ivy and Ventriloquist and Scarface. I passed on them as I already have both of the TRU Six Packs. While the split between Ivy and Ventriloquist seemed even I did not see any of them with Mr. Snoots, just Scarface.

I think almost all of the The Batman EXP series are out now. The only one I have not seen yet is the ?Ethan? Clayface. I?ve passed on some of these for now due to money concerns. Blaster Batgirl and Metal Head seem to be the scarcest. The Riddler and Temblor from the last wave of figures are clogging pegs everywhere now, so maybe Metal Head will be too in a few months, although I expect most of it to clear out over the Holidays.

No more Corgi Batmobiles at Wal-Mart, but the Hot Wheels two packs from a year ago are back on the pegs. Three different sets, plus a Superman two pack are out again, so if you missed them last time, here?s your chance.

Well good things come to those who wait. I just got a 2004 San Diego ComicCon International Exclusive "Unmasked" Battle Damaged Batman. Said to be limited to 50 figures this was the rarest of the 3 figures offered that year.

I?ve seen them on eBay before, but they always seem to end up selling for a high price. When I found it there was a relatively low bid. I ran up the bid until I was the high bidder, and was later outbid again. I decided once more to get to the high bid as the auction would end later that night. I expected to be out bid again and lose, but I didn?t. Considering the rarity and that most of these were selling in the hundreds of dollars I got a pretty good deal at $71 with shipping.

Also at Wal-Mart the current Superman wave of DC Superheroes seems to be missing the variant Superman and Supergirl with the Red and Black ?S?. I?ve seen all the others except for these. Granted I have not seen a lot of the others except for the repainted Superman from the original comic line three years ago. The villains are pretty scarce. I?ve only seen a few of Brainiac, two of Lex Luthor and only one Darkseid. Target and Wal-Mart seem to be up to date with this line, although they seem to have limited supply, but Toys R Us isn?t. Wave 1 Scarecrow figures still hang on the pegs there, and I don?t ever recall seeing any of the three other waves there either.

Over at Target, the Superman / Bizarro two packs are still around I some stores and so are the Clark Kent / Superman two packs. I guess no kid wants a guy in a business suit. The Batman / Batgirl ones are all but impossible to find, I?ve only seen the one I got. The JLU six pack with Doomsday is out, but limited and hard to find. Also the three packs with Ventriloquist and Poison Ivy seem to have gone too. However, at Toys R Us the figures are still there plenty of the Arkham Asylum six pack, but not the variant with Mr. Snoots instead of Scarface, those are gone.

I spotted two new 7 ?? The Batman EXP figures at Target. Secret ID Batman is Bruce Wayne with a quick change Batsuit. This is the first Bruce Wayne in this scale. The figure is a magnetic and the Batsuit clings to it. Sadly it?s not a traditional Batsuit as it it?s dark gray with light blue utility belt and accents. The other is Flying Fox Batman, which is lime green and has a huge frown on the lips. The 7 ?? figures are hit or miss sometimes. If seen some sit for weeks on the shelves, while others I only see once or twice.

The buying madness of the year starts on Friday so get your figures early otherwise you might not see them again.

Ah the madness of Christmas shopping. I did get one of the new The Batman ShadowTek Ultra figures (only one I saw) and I bought two Hot Wheels Mystery cars and one was The Batman Batmobile. The top part is plastic over a chrome die cast under carriage.

I just noticed your saying that you got the '04 Unmasked Battle-Damaged Batman. It is a neat figure and I'd like to have it someday, but $71 still seems very steep. I guess I would've expected it to be around that price by now, but I don't think I'd personally want to pay anymore than half that.

At Target on Friday, I finally saw, for the first time, one DCSH Lex Luthor as well as the Bizarro and Clark Kent 2-packs. The series with Batgirl and Azrael seemed virtually skipped in this area. I also finally saw one JLU Justice Lords 3-pack and a few new single packs. Those pegs were skimpy, like a lot of JLU stuff had sold out. A few new The Batman EXP figures were there but nothing I cared for.

For some dumb reason, I didn't buy anything. I was about to get Luthor, but he had some black spots on his face which I couldn't tell if they were stuck on or would just wipe right off. I also want to see if I can take my carded DCSH Superman back (even though I actually got it at Wal Mart) and get the Clark Kent 2-pack. Beyond said I may be able to exchange it by having the cost put onto a Target gift card. Anyone know about this?

Yes, I did get the Battle Damaged Batman from SDCC for only $71.00. While that seems like a lot, this figure is rumored to have only 50 made and was selling well over $100, even $200 dollars before. I felt sure I would be outbid and I was really surprised when I won. It?s about what I?ve paid for similar rare figures.

I don?t know, but I did see a couple Toys R Us exclusives on the action figure aisle at a Target. What was funny was that they still had the Toys R Us Exclusive decal on the box. I think they were G.I. Joe exclusives. Who in Target Customer Service would be so stupid as to take back an exclusive from another store, but that?s what happened.

So far the only DCSH figures I?ve passed on were the repainted ?Black S? Superman and Supergirl. I just did not see the point of ever getting those figures.
