Been away for a while, but now I'm back!! Smile

APRIL 25, 1966

The motion picture version of Batman begins production at Fox Studios. It is slated for a July 30th premiere in Austin, TX.

APRIL 27, 1966

"Death In Slow Motion"
(prod. #8731-Pt. 1) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EDT on ABC as the 31st episode of Batman.

Based on "The Joker's Comedy Capers!" from Detective Comics #341 (July 1965) by John Broome.

Francis Xavier Bushman (Mr. Van Jones) was a for-real silent film star who was voted most popular leading man in American films from 1914-1917. A heart attack resulting from a fall took him on August 23, 1966, scant months after his next-to-final onscreen appearance in these episodes of Batman, at age 83. (Coincidentally, Neil Hamilton [Commissioner Gordon] was also a silent film star as well!)

The late Theo Marcuse (VonBloheim) portrayed Dr. Gamma in the B/W version of the series premiere of Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea (ABC, 1964-68), "Eleven Days to Zero" (#6008, Sep. 14, 1964).

APRIL 28, 1966

"The Riddler's False Notion"
(prod. #8731-Pt. 2) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EDT on ABC as the 32nd episode of Batman.

This was the final TV appearance of Frank Gorshin as The Riddler until Season 3.

Batman makes reference to The Batcopter in this episode. The Batcopter will appear for the first time in the 1966 Batman movie.

Watch for Commissioner Gordon in The Batcave once more in Season-3 Episode #1708, "The Wail of the Siren."

The Riddler debuted in Detective Comics #140 (October 1948), and became perpetually forgotten in the Batman comicbook realm until Frank Gorshin's over-the-top, Emmy-nominated portrayal of The Prince Of Puzzlers virtually made him a star overnight on the Batman TV series, as he made the most appearances of any Batvillain in its first season: 8.

The ledge used here as part of The Chessman Building will be resued as part of Police Headquarters in Season-2 episode #9709-Pt. 2, "Tut's Case is Shut." This is the second time this season Aunt Harriet Cooper celebrates her birthday (how time flies!); the first was in Episode #8719-Pt. 2, "Batman Stands Pat."

APRIL 26, 1967

"The Thirteenth Hat," Episode #13 (!!) of Batman (prod. #8719-Pt. 1, from February 24 and June 8, 1966), was repeated @ 7:30 p.m. EDT on ABC.

APRIL 27, 1967

"Batman Stands Pat," Episode #14 of Batman (prod. #8719-Pt. 2, from February 25 and June 9, 1966), was repeated @ 7:30 p.m. EDT on ABC.
