Well the picture of the crystal smash figure (if that is a final picture) looks pretty cool. I am not really into the idea of the flying figures, but this could turn out to be a good line.

No pics, but judging from the names, it looks like more of the same from MAttel. I notice they're still re-using names from other figures, too. We've already seen Sky Strike Stratos, Sky Strike Batman, and now Sky Strike Superman. At least the name makes sense for Superman. If the figures are on par with the "Begins" line, at least it'll save me some money.

I'd say with the Superman line, they'll stick to one costume and they'll focus more on actions rather than new figure designs (like Crystal Smash Superman and Heat vision Superman).

The figures look kind of cheap because of how shiny they are, at least they do from the pictures posted by beyond.

I have not seen any of the Superman Returns figures in person. I may pick up one or two, if that. Based on what I have seen they don?t look all that great. They are not doing variants like they did with Batman Begins which makes me wonder why. If that works for Batman, why not Superman?
I may pick up the 14? one, I think it would look great alongside my Action Cape Batman

True he did, but that was just after his rebirth after he died in Doomsday. I don't think he's worn it since.
The JLU Superman has been done in different colors, why not this one? They did different colors for Batman figures in the Batman Begins line, why not this Superman?
No that I care mind you, I don't. I just don't see what there are no variants here is all.

Yes he did for a little while at least. Here?s the Action Figure
http://www.dccomics.com/dcdirect/?dcd=3271
As I recall he had to wear this suit to contain his energy (or something) when he returned from the dead.
There is a TPB that collects the Doomsday storyline on the Death Of Superman
http://www.dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=1574
I bought the original comic book where Superman dies way back when and it's still sealed in the "black bag" it came in. I just bought this TPB so I can read the story.

I picked up the wall smashng one yesterday. Limited articulation on the one I picked, but still a pretty cool figure. Goes pretty well with a Begins Batman.
Hopefully Luthor won't be too long from now or too hard to find. Everybody needs a Kevin Spacey figure.

I finally got into Target to check these out, and boy am I sad to say that they just don't do it for me. I dunno if my standards are getting too high or what, but the heads and faces on the three regular action figures just seemed to have problems. Krystal Smashing, Wall Busting, and Super Breath Superman were the only regular scale figures in stock.
Though I hate Super Breath's action feature to death, his blowing face sculpt (no pun intended) could be really cool if I made a diorama to complement it and scrapped that terrible, cut-out Luthor.
I was happy to see a 14" Superman, as I usually buy the 12-14 inchers, but I couldn't believe how simple and toy-like his face was compared to Action Cape Batman. Unless I can fix it up quite a bit, I just don't think I'll bring myself to buying it.
Superman Returns has to have to most scale variations of any action figure line I've ever seen. There's basic 5-something inch figures, 7" 'Battling' figures, a single 14" figure, a single 8 or 9" figure, and two Select Sculpts figures.
There were a few items that I really did like however. The single 9" figure has fine detail and moderate articulation, but I just don't know where such a figure would go in my collection.
The Select Sculpt figures looked awsome, and I'll probably buy both of them. I'm glad to see Mattel doing their version of Star Wars Unleashed with superheroes. Too bad Batman Begins never got such treatment.
I'm finding both dissappointment and solace in the most unusual aspects of this collection. I just didn't expect this.
