7. Only one of these heroes will be around after Infinite Crisis: Wally West(The Flash), Conner Kent(Superboy), Guy Gardner(Green Lantern), Dick Grayson(Nightwing).

Really you have to look at this that they are not necessarily going to die but just not be a hero anymore. The Flash scene in IC #3 looked like Wally might retire. Things don't look too great for Connor to be surviving. Guy Gardner will probably remain GL. Nightwing may be someone else after all this is over. With all the rumors of Bruce not being Batman and Red Hood becoming Nightwing. Of course, on another thread I refuted the whole Red Hood becoming Nightwing thing. That is what has been so great about this, nothing is totally feasible, anything goes.

I talked with a guy I work with about the scene where Batman asked if Dick Grayson were better off on Earth 2. He has been reading heavily for a good ten years longer than I have, so he brings a better perspective on things than I usually can.

He said that he saw it that the Earth 2 Dick Grayson never really did step out from Batman's shadow like Earth 1 did. On Earth 2 Dick Grayson stopped wearing short pants, but remained Robin. An identity that Bruce Wayne created (if the UNTOLD LEGEND OF THE BATMAN origin holds for Earth 2 Batman) for himself as he was training under a detective in his youth. The Robin suit was passed to Dick when Bruce took him in. Robin teamed up with the daughter of Bruce and Selina Wayne, Helena, as the Huntress as the new dynamic duo. He never really broke ties from Bruce.

On Earth 1 Dick almost totally broke away from Batman, lead a team of powerful heroes that saved the world almost as often as the Justice League, and formed his own identity that showed he wasn't just another Batman but has some influence from Superman (Superman gave him the name Nightwing from a legendary Kryptonian crimefighter). Nightwing is the future leader of the heroes. When Batman and Superman are gone (which will probably never actually happen), leadership will fall to him.

I always hated that part of that origin. I still like "Untold Legend" as a story, though.

I really didn't get all the confusion people had about that line. It was a great "Batman Moment," which have been disappointingly rare lately. Batman has an ability to cut through the BS like nobody else, and that's what he was doing here. For all of Superman's talk about the many ways in which Earth 2 was better than the current DCU earth, Batman proved that it wasn't necessarily so with a single sentence. I don't think it was a knock against the Earth 2 Grayson, but a simple acknowledgement that Nightwing has done so well for himself, and become such a great hero, that he is a shining example of everything a hero can and should be. It doesn't matter what earth was being discussed, Batman knows damn well that Dick Grayson is the best man he can be, and Superman knows it, too.

I know we've heard that. But really.. are they going to kill Wally? Or, lets look at it this way.. are they even talking about the current Flash or Superboy? I mean, I'm not reading this.. but I really hope they don't kill Flash, or Superboy. And of course Nightwing will live.. he's to big a character to die.

Here is how the issue of Wizard with the hints puts it:

7. Which one of these heroes is the only ones who'll be around after 'Infinite Crisis'?
Wally West/The Flash
Connor Kent/Superboy
Guy Gardner/Green Lantern
Dick Grayson/Nightwing

That doesn't really leave it open for the changes to be happening to the other Flash or the dozens of other Green Lanterns. I interpret it to mean that some of them will not be that hero or not be a hero at all (retire or turn evil).

Something else Crisis related, in Teen Titans #31, some guy named Kid Eternity revealed that there has been a problem with the door between life and death ever since Superman died and returned. His return left the door open causing chaos and all the returns that have been happening. They even mention Jason Todd's return.

A lot of people have told me about that. I only pick up Teen Titans in trades, though, so it'll be a while before I get to read that issue. Interesting that Kid Eternity turned up again. I don't think he's been seen since Grant Morrison did that miniseries with him about 10 years ago.

I just hat eto see them get rid of Conner.. I liked him.

And Wally.. well, perhaps he does retire, but again, why? Unless Barry comes back and Wally gives it up to be a dad.

Just when they make him a good character. I could not stand him when he first appeared. I don't know that he is going to die. It is just my theory about what is gong to happen.

I'd prefer that Conner not die, but I'm more concerned that Wally survive. I don't think they'll kill Wally, just because it's expected by almost everybody. He really deserves to retire and spend some time with his family. Of course, I don't think Barry should return either, unless they're specifically using the back door that MArv Wolfman built into the original Crisis on Infinite Earths story to begin with. That was brilliant, and I would enjoy seeing it used.
