Now its on the director's site, but everyone would give it a 50/50 anyway. But its real.
Sam Liu is one of the directors of The Batman. Now on his site, he said the following on The Batman Season Four:
"Currently the new season of The Batman has been a lot of funand hard work. the scripts have been great and i am currently working from a Paul Dini, Harly story ..."

He said working FROM a Dini story, not working WITH.
Timm and Dinni used alot of Stories from the comics, it could be something like that, or it could be a left over script from TAS.
Either way, sounds cool

Matt from LoG confirmed this. Harley Quinn WILL be on next seasona dn WILL be written by Paul Dini.

Comic writers have done stories for the cartoons all the time. If I remember right Denny O'Neil did the "Robin's Reckoning" story for Batman:TAS. That is probably all that is going on here. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the comic writers had been approached to do stories for The Batman.
Harley Quinn is owned by WB, so they could have had her in the first episode if they wanted. I think that that may be what has caused this show to not really appeal to me. It feels like there is a marketing guy that is telling them when they can use characters so that more toys can be sold.

::bbbruce:: - Sounds pretty cool...however, I will believe it when I see evidence of it. If true, this could only be a GOOD thing for the show. It desperately could use a shot in the arm...storywise that is.

In case any of you are interested, this is what Paul Dini said about how he feels about The Batman:
I think it's a cool show. I haven't seen every episode, but I liked some, didn't like others. Same with Justice League and Titans. Same with Batman Beyond in fact, and I co-created and produced that series. One thing I always knew when I started working on the original animated series fifteen years ago was that it wasn't the first Batman cartoon series, and wouldn't be the last. Therefore it does me no good to get possessive about a character I have fun writing but don't own.
As for me storming into Warners and arguing for them not to make a new Batman series -- come on. That never happened. For one thing the show's inception came from VP of Development Sam Register at Cartoon Network, not from Warners. Also, by the time they announced The Batman I was pretty sick of men in tights. I turned down opportunities to write on both The Batman and Teen Titans so I could concentrate on Duck Dodgers, the show I had pitched and sold to CN with a couple of the then current Looney Tunes directors. I didn't like every episode of that series either, but that's the realities of production for you.

Duck Dodgers is probably the best thing to happen with Looney Tunes since Mel Blanc died. It is hilarious, but I think that they have stopped making it. There are some great episodes. One parodies Samurai Jack, and in another due to a mix up at the dry cleaners Duck Dodgers becomes a Green Lantern. Awesome show.

I'm with you, Duck Dodgers was great and went off the air way too soon. Hopefully Warner will release it on DVD, though considering things like Animaniacs and Birds of Prey I'm won't hold my breath. |
