SUNDOWN PART 1
PLOT:
The Legion is put to the ultimate test when an ancient weapon known as a Sun Eater comes to life. The Legion mounts a heroic defense, but the Sun Eater proves too powerful. Now at full strength, the unstoppable Sun Eater sets its sights on Earth...
REVIEW:
When the show started, alot of people stated that it was going to be Superman guest starring the Legion of Superheroes, because of it being a tie-in to the 2006 Superman Returns. However, as the show progessed, while still being a Superman show, it has become more of what it's title is: a Legion of Superheroes show. Sure Superman was in it, as a main character and got focused alot, but it was Lightning Lad, Timber Wolf, Phantom Girl, and Brainiac 5 whom were focused too. And in turn, showed how good the Legion of Superheroes team were. As the season finale came near and near, many wondered how the first season would end. Many had their ideas, even me. Let's see.
The episode opens with the Legionaires fighting the Fatal Five in space with Bouncing Boy monitoring from the ship. The Fatal Five have their demands and in the process defeat every Legionaire and prepares for Bouncing Boy. Then the simulation ends (everything in the beginning was a test). Bouncing Boy blames himself for losing, but is cheered up by Triplicate Girl. A distress signal is coming from a red planet, which has powerful weapons. Superman realizes that its similar to a red sun and Brainiac 5 shows him a special suit to protect him. They arrive and enter. Bouncing Boy tells them to patrol all the different levels to find the object. Then a small, ball shaped object appeares. They go after it, but its fast and escapes through walls. All the Legionaires come together until Brainiac 5 stops and knows what it is: a Sun-Eater. Then it escapes. The Legion go back to the ship and follow it, and as everyone is ready to fight, Bouncing Boy still has his fears. The Legion fights the Sun-Eater and fails, with Superman being hit with red radiation that removed his powers. Bouncing Boy wants them to create an offense against the Sun Eater, but Superman suggests finding the Controllers. Triplicate Girl hands Superman a screwdriver and tells him to make repairs. While below the ship, Superman notices something a grabs a weapon. He is almost defeated until Brainiac 5 arrives, stating they found it because of his protests. Ferro Lad has a plan on how to stop the Sun Eater. With repairs done, the Legion catch up with the Sun Eater with every Legion member and ready to attack...
The Sun Eater is one deadly foe for even the Legion to fight and defeat. The fact that it uses solar radiation, which is what Superman uses, makes him an unstoppable and difficult enemy for even Superman. We're given a bit of backstory on the Sun Eater. Its revealed that it was created by The Controllers as a defense and to scare others into peace. It was used twice, and was considered too dangerous that it was locked away (since it couldn't be destroyed). It is also what lead to the "Great Crisis" which we have found out to be a war. But the same people who locked it away, attacked the Legion ship after they fought it. So they must've let it loose. Which begs the question: why? Thats something for part 2 to explain.
In "Chain in Command", Bouncing Boy became the leader to the LoSH. But in this episode, he has fears and doubts if he was the right choice. Anyone can relate to him because he is someone with every hero's lives in his hands, and whatever he decides will either help or hurt them. Because he does get better and does get courage, I believe he will become a better leader than what he thinks right now. Plus, he has support from Triplicate Girl since she cares for him, or loves him altogether.
Overall, this episode (still under the the fact that its a two parter) had action & suspense for both the Legion and the Sun-Eater, and a learning curve subplot for Bouncing Boy. It was obivious that the Super suit Superman is given was for toys, even though a LoSH toy line hasn't started yet, but its design was cool. The space scenes were done with a great job with suspense, again, and alot of action. Enough to make me want more, which we will nect week. So I'll leave this review off until then....

I thought The Episode was great, I really did like The Scene where Superman is trying to stop the SunEater, and it was great to see Bouncing Boy being the Leader, and telling People what to do, I can't wait to see Next Weeks Episode it is going to be great.
