The back of the Wonder Woman reveals that Green Lantern will be the next hero to get a DTV. The shoutbox revealed that not many people were interested in it. So I created this thread so people can really voice their opinions. So let's hear it...again!
I think a Green Lantern movie is cool. I've learned to appreciate him these past few months. I think The Batman's GL is what got me interested. The New Frontier was also a movie that sparked my interest in the character. It would be unique if Bruce Timm and Co. can create an original story using the Green Lanterns of the Earth.
I'd also like to see a Green Arrow movie. The one thing I'd want to see is Green Arrow with the costume from Smallville.
So what's your thoughts? What do you want to see?
The only thing stopping you from success is doubt. |

It seems as if they're trying to show off some characters that are not so familiar to the general public, but then why do they keep pushing GL into the spotlight? As I stated before it seemed like he was at least one of the main focuses of JL/JLU and he was the main character in the New Frontier. Why not give someone else a chance? I don't know, maybe GL has a larger fan base than I realize or something.
Anyways, I'm not dismissing the movie yet. I hope it'll star Hal Jordan and have some interesting animation/character designs.
Also, if I have the cash I plan on buying Wonder Woman; according to a review I saw on Toonzone.net, it sets a new standard for DCU DTVs. Should be great! |

green lantern sounds cool to me. green lantern's one of those characters who can bring about some really cool action and animation. there's something undeniably attractive about green energy being thrown around, lol.
and besides our obvious longing for more of batman, haha, i'd want to see blue beetle and booster gold. i know we have brave and the bold for funny heroes, but i feel like with a dtv, we can get some good subliminal jokes like JLU had.

The problem I have with GL being the star of a DTV isn't anything against the character. The fact of the matter is that DTVs should be used as an alternative market for characters who can't get enough spotlight for theatrical releases.
The problem with picking GL is simple, we're likely going to get a GL movie around 2010-2011, so why on Earth are they using him? Blue Beetle, Booster Gold and Green Arrow are all good picks. And if they wanted to go with a bigger name, they could go with Flash or Aquaman, neither of whom have a motion picture in development. I just think it's a waist of the production to do another GL story.
Of course I'm kind of assuming they're doing an origin like in Wonder Woman and New Frontier. If they aren't and instead they're doing an alternate interpretation, then it may be pretty good. I'd still prefer a character who isn't already in the spotlight.

It's a way to market the character to more people.
If you look back at the history of superhero movies, there's always been an animated version following closely behind it.
Batman Returns - Batman the Animated Series
Spider-Man - The MTV Spider-Man series
Iron Man - The Invincible Iron Man DTV and the upcoming animated series on Nickelodeon
Fantastic Four - The Fantastic Four animated series
Blade - Not animated but the Blade series on Spike TV
X-Men - X-Men Evolution
Transformers (2007) - Transformers Animated
Batman Begins - The Batman vs. Dracula
The Dark Knight - Batman: Gotham Knight
Superman Returns - Superman Doomsday
Batman & Robin - Batman Sub Zero
So having a Green Lantern DTV along with a live action movie is just following what's been done in the past. The difference is creating an original story.
The only thing stopping you from success is doubt. |

Wow, I had no idea when a movie came out, an animated series followed it. That's pretty cool. I always thought it was the other way around. *Shrugs* Anyway, I don't know much about any of the other DC superheroes because I've never really payed that much attention.
I only got into Batman last year because of the hype of the Dark Knight. Then of course things got totally serious when I started liking the Penguin but I digress on that subject unless you want me talking for 8 HOURS.
Anyway, I agree with some of the others who've mentioned that someone else should get the spot light for a movie. I'm still thinking the Flash. I did watch Justice League Unlimited and Wally was pretty hilarious and if a super-hero is funny, he gets my vote.

I think that would be awesome. Perhaps it would get the taste of 2004's live action Catwoman out the mouths of a few people. |

I like the idea of a Green Lantern DTV. I also would like a Green Arrow. Aquaman, even Hawkman and Hawkgirl. There are alot of heroes that could carry a 70-90 minute animated movie before a live action one. I also think that WB needs to do more than one a year. there should be at least three if not four.

Well here is my thoughts lol... I really wanna see a Green Arrow dtv... The costume I would wanna see him in though would be the one from the comics when he just came back from his island training with Natas... Idk if that is his current costume or not... I think that they should only come out with a Catwoman dtv if they are gonna put her in a future batman movie though... Also I am a big fan of Robin so I think it would be awesome if he could get a solo dtv the emphasis being on the word solo...

my thoughts exactly. That movie was pretty awful. I think it could be really good if they did something like the style of jeph loeb and tim sale's "When in rome" Catwoman book. |

Yeah, even an adaption of When In Rome would be awesome.
It's been said that The Long Halloween's a possible choice for the solo Batman DTV. I hope they go with that or Hush. Either one of those would be fantastic visually, provided they go with the design of the source material. They also would be a probable good seller. |

Well I doubt they would go with Hush if it is going to be a solo dtv... Hush included Superman, Nightwing, Robin, Jason Todd.... Or at least it was revealed to be him later... But all the characters in Long Haloween are villlians

Well, they did superman doomsday, so editing the story of hush and some of the characters out to work as an animated movie wouldn't be that difficult
Personally, I'd LOVE to see The Long Halloween, but whatever they end up going with for the next batman release I'll be happy with. I just wish that there wasnt so much time in between the releases, there should be at LEAST one every six months |

I would love to see a Hush adaptation. I say bring back the old cast and animate it like the Deadshot feature in Gotham Knight. I was going to say do it Jim Lee style but he seems so detailed, it would be hard to transfer it to animation.

I think they should do it Jim Lee style. It is pretty detailed but they could simplify it a bit if that's a problem. |

I did see the Gotham Knight animated movie. It was pretty cool. I'm so behind in reading the comics and graphic novels though. Sorry if I don't know what or who you guys are talking about. I'm sure what ever other Batman release they'll put out, it'll be good. I don't have any doubts about that.
The Long Halloween sounds pretty cool. I think I might have picked it up and flipped through it while I was at a comic book store or something but it didn't have Pengy in it, so I didn't buy it. I have standards when it comes to comics and stuff. Anyway, I did however take the time to look at it and it did have some good art work and stuff.
Like I said, whatever Batman release they come out with next, I'm willing to watch it.
