REVIEW:

Patriot Act is the next episode on our list of new UK airing episodes of JLU. However, instead of continuing the Legion arc, this serves as a direct sequel to the Cadmus arc of the previous two seasons.

The main villian is General Eiling, voiced by J. Johan Jameson's J.K. Simmons. Previously, Eiling was determined to take care of the League as they were considered a grave threat even after learning the events in the alternate earth seen in JL's "A Better World". Now, he is still determined. But after the Cadmus Project had been scrapped, he feels like the League had won and they have surrendered. In this episode, he prepares to continue what the Cadmus left off.

This relates to a serum he found in a report about the Nazis in 1944 creating a race of super soldiers (can sombody scream "Captain America"wink. A golden age superhero; Spy Smasher got it and the base was destroyed. Once Eiling sneaks in the Cadmus base, he takes the serum and becomes

a)a super powered monster
&
b)a nod, more of a rip off to the Hulk in many ways

The main cast of heroes was Green Arrow, Stargirl & STRIPES, Vigilante, and finally Shining Knight. When they were on the floats in the parade (Yes, I said that), Green Arrow states that it doesn't matter if they weren't A Superman because they still are heroes nonetheless. But still, the crowd are less than pleased.

I find that similar to what I heard on a Comic Geek Speak podcast. In a podcast episode, the guys stated that in the lesser known comic titles like Manhunter, the writers create bigger and greater stories to get the lesser titles notice with the better known titles. I found that similar in some ways with this, both in the comic industry and me. Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman are well known and we like them because they're popular. Manhunter, Stargirl, and Shining Knight for examples are heroes not that many to alot of people know about, and frankly don't care.

As seen in this episode. And does explain why Vigilante tries to introduce the lesser known heroes to the crowd. And gets them to like them. Another relation to as said above.

While we also get the Crimson Knight, we also get a big surprise: Speedy! You heard it. Green Arrow's sidekick (ex-sidekick as he says) fights along side Green Arrow in his first JLU episode since the cancellation of Teen Titans. While the Teen Titans was still in production of its fifth season, as was this...strange.

Whatever, we got Speedy.

Overall, this was a nice episode to show what was left after Cadmus. It was also another story where the theme of becoming what you hate was explored.

RATING: 8/10

P.S. A small preview of what's to come was shown at the end credits. But I can't tell you what was shown...

All I can say is that it looked good.

OH WOW! i saw the ep. it was so good. it showed how cool the non superpowered heroes are. not only that; speedy was in it. that scene alone made me really excited. it was so satsifying. if only they cud get robin in there...maybe one day we will....if JLU doesnt cancel anytime soon. i herd theyre gnna keep on going if JLU gets good ratings or something.

Patriot Act was good....the general turns into the Hulk. Was this an actual comic book story arc, Nate?

I believe it was. But since I didn't collect any of the JLA comics, I can't be really sure. You need to ask someone who has read that comic title.

This episode ruled! Vigilante is the bomb! Man, that guy's cool! This episode is a reason why they shouldn't cancel this thing.

This episode was pretty good, I wouldn't call it great though, the whole General thing was kind of weird.

I laughed in a part:

Green Arrow: You wanted Superman? Okay, you got...Crimson Avenger and my ex-side-kick.

Hah hah, so funny.

I'd say 6.9/10.

The reason as to why I'm giving this episode 9.5/10 are as follows:

1. Vigilante
2. Greg Sanders
3. That cool cowboy on the motorbike

but it was an awesome episode. it was like captain america/hulk and yeah....non superpowered heroes are cool. although it wud have been cool to see batman too.

and detective, how can u give it 6.9??? thats insanely low for a such a good episode.

Well, one reason I thought this episode wasn't that good was because of a few reasons. Like the villain just leaving at the end was stupid. And the part where the kid hits the dude with the crane. And a few other things. It just didn't seem like too good of an episode, in my opinion.

Although, like I said before, I think it had some funny parts in it.

Kid: Where are all the good ones?

:bigrazz:
