This thread is for all the info, pics, etc of the upcoming show. Go here instead of posting new threads.

Commercials airing on Kids' WB! for next Saturday's event, Behind the Shield, provided the first moving images of the upcoming Legion of Super Heroes animated series.

The commercial refers to the lead character as "Superman" and not "Superboy."

Click on the thumbnails for larger images.

In other Legion news:

* Writers for the first season will include David Slack, Matt Wayne and Amy Wolfram.

* Shawn Harrison is providing the voice of Timber Wolf.

Strange, that last picture of Supes reminds me of the art style from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon.

Cool grabs, thanks for posting them!

He is.

Bio:
A green-skinned, blond-haired teenager, dressed in a purple jumpsuit, he claimed descent from the original Brainiac, a Superman villain. He wished to join the Legion as atonement for his great-great-grandfather's misdeeds. Brainiac 5's ingenuity led to the invention of, amongst other things, the Legion flight ring.

He appeared in the episode of JLU "Far from Home".

according to IMDb, it is Superboy, but also listed as Clark Kent. I don't know Superboy's secret identity, as I'm not a particular fan of the Superman mythos, but if it is also Clark Kent, things could get confusing

It ain't Superboy anymore, its Superman. IMDB must been forgetting to update their site. But its Superman now.

And it is Clark Kent because before, as Superboy in LOSH, during the Silver Age a teenage Clark Kent was Superboy before he became Superman. IN thoday's mythos, he wasn't Superboy at all.

I don't understand the question.

Superboy and Superboy Prime are two different people from two different universes. ame goes for Clark Kent/Kal-El Superboy and Conner Kent/Con-El Superboy.

It looks like this will be a mix of conecpts from all of the versions of the DCU. The cartoons are a continuity unto themselves.

As far as why Superman and not Superboy, it has not been confirmed by DC in anything I have read, but a recent court ruling gave the Jerry Siegel's decendants at least partial, maybe full, rights to Superboy. Apparently, Superboy was created by Siegel alone. Since they have the rights, DC can not use the character in any media without getting their permission. Rumors have said that that is why Superboy died in Infinite Crisis. The original concept was to kill off Nightwing.

None of this has been confirmed, but it really makes sense. Especially with the press release saying a young Superman and not Superboy.

I've changed the topic's title. Now it'll be the thread on screens from the new show before the show starts. Thus avoiding multiple threads.

In other news, here are new screens posted thanks to Comics Continuum (8-12-06):

This was shown from a promo Kids Wb showed today (I believe). If thyats the case, I would expect a TB Season 4 one soon. Keep a look out!

that is superman or superboy i don't understand.

but to the ones that don't now the silver age superboy was a young superman, the modern one was conner kent a clone of superman made by cadmus when superman died, and superboy prime is an alternate version of the silver age that appear on crisis on infinite earths, and as a villain on infinite crisis.

Its Superman. It was suppose to be Superboy but they ended up changing it. Thats why when you see him, you think Superboy. But its Superman.

He's a young adult in the show who can't figure out his powers and what to do with them.

After seeing these screens I'm a little more confident in the look of the show.

The designs in the promotional art looked HORRIBLE (as does almost ALL promotional art) but as I expected they look much better animated.

However Saturn Girl still looks horrible if you ask me. Everyone else looks fine and dandy. (I'm a little annoyed that Brainiac who is one of the few LOSH characters I find interesting looks like a blonde Beastboy, but I'll get over it)

I hope this series really takes advantage of the many side-characters it has.

As much as I don't like LOSH the comic, this series has potential to be like JLU meets Teen Titans.

A JLU for a younger audience, with a lighter tone.

i like how braniac looks, but i'll bet many viewers will confuse him as future beast boy or something. but its all good. i will enjoy it for sure!

i loved both JLU and teen titans; if this really becomes JLU meets TT, i'll be so happy. as well as others. lol.
