Lightning Storm
PLOT:
Much to the Legion's disappointment, Lighting Lad accepts an invitation to join an older, "cooler" team. Once there, however, Lightning Lad realizes these new heroes aren't exactly what they seem. Now, caught between the Legion and his new friends, Lighting Lad must decide once and for all where his loyalties lie.
REVIEW:
If theres one more character who is being focus on in this series, besides Superman, its Lightning Lad. Brash and hot-headed, he is the Legion's field leader. Which can go into conflict since many assume Superman is the leader, while temporary. Although, he still can help out like his idea to Saturn Girl in "Brain Drain" which worked. Put it simply, he is someone who is useful for his work, yet for himself its very negetive.
As the story begins, the LoSH (with member Colossal Boy appearing for the first time on the show) are fighting a space squid (does that sound familar?) and are having a tough time. That is until the Lightspeed Vanguard appears. As they defat the space squid, its obivious they don't care about the "kids" as in the LoSH. But despite what the others feel about them, its Lighnting Lad who loves them. Not brothering with the new recruits the LoSH holds, he leaves the team secretly and goes to the Lightspeed Vanguard. There, he sees that his brother is part of the team and despite that he tells the LoSH about his change in teams. And that stays that way until after they save civilains and telsl them, and then forces them, to pay them for their work. That is where Lightning Lad must make decide where his loyalities lie.
Lightning Lad in this episode shows right after the Lightspeed Vanguard appears that he is a fan of them even though they treat the LoSH like dirt. That continues when he doesn't care less with the new members the LoSH hold (even with one new member accidently hits Lad in the butt with his spike). And then once he goes to the Vanguard, you get that feeling of "this guy left the team. I expected this from that son of a ...." but that changes when he is shocked to see his brother (last seen in "Champions" part of the team. Lightning Lad sees himself as a superhero who doesn't need other superheroes to help him because it would make him look like he can't handle things on his own. But even other superheroes, like the JLA, understand that even one can't handle things on their own. Luckily once the Vanguard show who they really are, he changes back. Even he learns, despite his attitude.
The evil team that the Legion faces off is actually the Legion of Super-Villians, but they're called the Lightspeed Vanguard. I can only think the reason behind the change is that it wouldn't make sense for villians to name their team "super-villians". Although I should point out they call themselves "LSV" for short. They treat the LoSH like they were (well they kinda are) kids, and disrespect them in every way. All except for Lightning Lad, even before his joins the team. They consider their work business and charge people for their work. All in all, the team would kinda resemble what Lightning Lad would be like and kinda is, but once he goes deeper, he wants to go back.
Overall, this episode was fine. As a Lightning Lad focused episode, it shows what a jerk he can be but in turn shows that despite what we think, and what the LoSH thinks, he really is a good guy. Saturn Girl says that when she says "you're a good person, that will never change". However, despite this, I felt the episode could've been more. Don't get me wrong, it had action and character. But I felt there could've been more exciting. I mean this was a chance to have a superhero team versus a supervillian team. But it felt bland. Well, we did get to see Colossal Boy in an cameo and the Legion Auditions have started which will continue on in the next episodes. And on a side note, looks like Bouncing Boy has feelings for Triplicate Girl.
RATING: 7/10

I thought The Episode was Excellent, I really did Enjoy it, I really Enjoyed The Scene where Superman and that Guy are Fighting and Superman uses his Heat Vision on him, and I also liked The Scene where Lighting Lad is talking to Superman and he says to Superman you taking me back and Superman says you never left, I can't wait to see Next Weeks Episode, it is going to be Terrific, this is going to be a great Show.

This episode irritated me in a way. At the beginning, The Legion is struggling...no, being beaten by a space squid and had to be saved by LSV..
A space squid.
- no.
I could have lived with fighting the thing, but they were all captured and couldn't get loose. Totally unbelievable...after all, Superman beat something similar to that thing weeks ago by himself (it was an amoeba or something with tentacles). Later, they beat the entire LSV team with ease when it became necessary. I also didn't like the scene when the Legion was in the restaurant sticking french fries up BB's nose or whatever...too juvenile for the entire Legion to be involved in...The Flash was JLU's clown, but you hardly saw them all fooling around like that.
Ok, this is not JLU and this show is aimed at a younger viewing audience.
- meh.
That being said there was plenty of action and Timberwolf was in it...the only positives.
