LEGION OF SUPER HEROES - 106 – WHO AM I?
PLOT:
Chameleon Boy infiltrates Imperiex's ranks as Persuader. But something goes horribly wrong.
REVIEW:
Just like “Cry Wolf”, “Karate Kid” wasn’t reviewed by me because it wasn’t part of the arc despite Impereiex’ mention. To recap “Chained Lightning”: a pretty good episode that had a bit of sadness, but also it had elements from horror films in it. I was also reminded that Saturn Girl wasn’t in any episodes since her getting hurt in part 2 of the premiere. I hope she isn’t dead. On this new episode; Chameleon Boy is a character in this second season that shows he has potential but felt that for a new character, there weren’t an episode where it focus only on him. With news of this episode, maybe we got some chance and hoped. Let’s see.
Chameleon Boy fails a test to act like Persuader, despite looking like him. Brainiac has a plan in placing a chip to make Chameleon Boy into Persuader and Chameleon Boy agrees. The chip is planted and Chameleon Boy becomes Persuader, with no memory of the real him inside. Attacking the Legion, Chameleon Boy/ Persuader escapes, while Brainiac says its okay as they’re know where and what he is. Inside Impereiex’s lair, he is welcomed onto his side, and five days in, the Legion learns that the real Persuader escaped and he is attacking Chameleon Boy/ Persuader. Impereix learns of this and prepares to destroy them both.
The focus of this episode is Chameleon Boy, trying to infiltrate Imperiex's ranks, but that is just for the first act and the first half of the second act. Unlike previous focus episodes, where it would be something like Chameleon Boy throughout the entire episode, this episode has him focused when they want to, with the rest of the episode really more of a case of Identity Crisis. Because of this, the episode felt imbalanced because you couldn’t really tell what they wanted to focus on: Chameleon Boy, Chameleon Boy becoming Persuader, a story on crisis in identities, or the change of a villain into a hero. There are too many gear shifts in this episode, including a decrease in the quality in voice acting, making this episode not a very good one. For the first time in my new rating system, this is Blah!
Overall, this wasn’t a very good episode. The acting wasn’t as good and the story crammed more of an identity crisis in both Chameleon Boy and Superman, rather than the one the episode started with. It was unbalanced and in the process, didn’t care and didn’t even like the episode. What a waste.
RATING: Blah
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.
(crack!)
And I'm the surgeon.
