Jude Law? He wouldn't be my first choice but he could deff work.
And Buckeye, I'd try to stay away from sitcom actors. The last comic book movie to cast sitcom actors as villains (that I recall) was Spider-man 3. Topher Grace got his start in That 70s Show, James Franco got his start in Freaks & Geeks, and Thomas Haden Church's first big break was Wings. It didn't work out too well for them.
On the other hand, I remember several years ago some young, bright-eyed poster kept entertaining the thought of Laura Prepon as Poison Ivy, so I can't really blame you for it.

That is Jude Law, who stared in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Cold Mountain, Alfie (remake), and many, many more.

In my defense ladies and gentlemen of the jury it seems you forgot a certain sitcom star played a villain a few years back (ERIN, I am talking to you) and he did a good job as the Penguin and his name is Danny Devito |

And I AM as guilty as charged of being OVERLY in LOVE with said version of Ozzy played by Danny Devito.
But you're forgetting Buckeye...the jury includes ME and the OTHER versions of the Penguin.
*points to the rest of the jury that I am sitting in the middle of*
XD LOL!!!

While that may be true...you're forgetting about me being love-sick over him and that I tend to not notice such things...it happens A LOT.
So, objection about Ozzy not being able to be on the jury is overruled per my rules.
Thank you for your time....now moving on....
Jude Law may be good in some movies....I disagree with him being the Riddler.
What about Adrian Brody??

Here's my ideas for casting Riddler; Michael Emmerson (my favorite choice), Kevin Bacon, or Alex O'Laugin...

Kevin Bacon-No...Adrian Brody or Alex O'Laughlin-Only if they go with Riddler from THE BATMAN...Jude Law-Yes if they go with the suit and bowler look
and to paraphrase a line from Beneath The Planet of the Apes (this is for you Erin)-The only good Penguin is a dead Penguin |

Forget Depp as the Riddler...I just read where Depp will be the only actor returning for Pirates of the Caribbean and after that he will be playing....Tonto in the new Lone Ranger movie. Pirates 4 set for release March, 2011 |

O.O There were NO penguins in "planet of the apes".
Who would make such a HORRIBLE comment??!!!
And all I can say is that Frank Gorshin did such a good job back in the '60's being the Riddler, that I can't really think of anyone who would even DESERVE the role for Nolan's films.
& I stand by the comments that I made earlier in this discussion about the Riddler. The bowler hat & suite version is my favorite, only from looking & reading the comics, it wins hands down for me.
Plus, in the long run, that version of him is my favorite to draw.
Just saying.
Riddler is my third fave villain, after Hatter & Penguin. But still, Riddler puts up with a lot of crap in the comics & stuff. He should be portrayed just like Heath's Joker was, with a beautiful performance making the audience wanting more.
No crappy acting or costume design or anything like that. I will scream if Nolan decides to bring Riddler into Batman 3 and they screw him up.
I will literally scream.

Ok now that Johhny Depp is out the window.... I'm really thinking Jude Law would be awesome but he's a rather big name and he's signed a contracted to play Dr. Watson again and the rumors are that the way the last Holmes movie performed at the box office they're pushing the next one into production for 2012 release

I think Johnny Depp is actually the perfect choice. He has the talent to play the character, but he also is big enough a name to keep people interested in the project without Heath Ledger.
And hey, if he wants to play the character (and from what I understand he may actually want to) he can go ahead and postpone other projects.

I didn't mean I didn't want him as Riddler but he seems to be really into the pirates fims.... I mean he returned for a 4th. So Im doubting that he will wanna stop production of that for a new project. I may be incorect but i dont think Depp has ever even played a role thats anything like the joker

I know what you mean boywonder99 besides when one actor does the same part for a long time (i.e.- Depp in Pirates, Connery & Moore as James Bond) it's hard for people to see them as anyone but that certain character |

With Depp, the many roles has HAS played and the wildly varying characters would make it hard for him to be type-cast. Since 21 Jumpstreet, he has played cross-dressing Ed Wood, murderous Sweeney Todd, Edward Scissorhands, Creeped out Icabod Crane and Willy Wonka, the nasty romantic Rochester (The Libertine), drugged out Raoul Duke (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) Inspector Frederick Abberline (From Hell), the murderous but suave John Dillinger, and many many more.
Just look at the characters and list of current/new projects on IMdB:
http://www.imdb.c...m0000136/
In Development:
1. Wild Roses, Tender Roses (details only on IMDbPro)
2. Caliber (details only on IMDbPro)
3. Affected Provincial's Companion (details only on IMDbPro)
4. Inamorata (details only on IMDbPro)
5. Rex Mundi (details only on IMDbPro)
6. The People's Act of Love (details only on IMDbPro)
7. The Lone Ranger (details only on IMDbPro)
8. In the Hand of Dante (details only on IMDbPro)
9. The Incredible Mr. Limpet (details only on IMDbPro)
10. Happy Days (details only on IMDbPro)
11. Shantaram (details only on IMDbPro)
12. Untitled Johnny Depp/Alexander Litvinenko Project (details only on IMDbPro)
13. A Long Way Down (details only on IMDbPro)
14. Dark Shadows (details only on IMDbPro)
15. Dali (details only on IMDbPro)
In Production:
1. Sin City 3 (2012) (in production) (rumored) .... Wallace
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) (pre-production) .... Jack Sparrow
3. The Tourist (2011) (pre-production)
4. Rango (2011) (post-production) (voice) .... Rango
5. The Rum Diary (2010) (post-production) .... Paul Kemp
6. Alice in Wonderland (2010) (completed) .... The Mad Hatter
I think he might could "squeeze" a Batman flick in there (somewhere), esp. the production worked around his schedule (planned to film him quick).

Tartan, the average film fan is a what have you done for me lately crowd that usually follows the crowd meaning they would be more likely to see the Pirates movies and less likely to see movies like The Libertine.
That's what I was talking about, not that Depp hasn't been in movies other than Pirates but that the averaage fan knows him from that and not The Libertine |
