It was the mixed up with the pills.
That is still not official. He was found with medication, that doesn't mean it was the cause... We still need the police report from the toxicology tests to know what was in his system.
And MacWage, I'm betting your friend's just misinformed. Ever since the police said that there were prescriptions in the apartment people have been exadurating to cause hype. An early news report I read said pills were "Strewn about him", but the police reports say he was found in bed with no suspcious evidence around him. So I'm betting a lot of people who have no idea whats going on thing it was an overdose.
And I believe he was playing the hero in the Gilliam movie.

Thanks.
I just wanted to confirm I haven't missed anything.
You guys seem MUCH better informed than 99% of the stuff out there.

As we already know, it was a result of mixing PROSCRIPTION meds. Each was probably taken in the "correct" amount, but the CUMULATIVE effect was toxic leading to an "acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine," spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said in a statement.
He was taking painkillers, sleeping pills, anti-anxiety medication and other prescription drugs. The proscribing doctors wouldn't have known the other drugs, so wouldn't have known the interactions. It was previously stated that several weren't sold in the US, so he HAD to get those from non-local sources.
In short, EXACTLY what we expected from credible sources.

"Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage," the statement said.
Yeah... That's just scary for me. Like I said, I know people who have a lot of meds and I'm terrified for them constantly, so to have an idol of mine go that way is all to close to home.
The report also says that he didn't take them all at once, the effect was progressive as he took more meds while others were still in his system.
As for what they were,
WNBC wrote:The drugs are the generic names for the OxyContin painkiller, the anti-anxiety drug Valium, Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug, and the sleep aids Restoril and Unisom. Hydrocodone is another name for the better-known Vicodin.
