News is breaking out that Heath Ledger, our new Joker for The Dark Knight, was fiund dead in his NYC apartment. According to TMZ.com, Ledger was found dead in his bed in one of his residences in Soho by his housekeeper at 3:35 PM ET today. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime.

At first I didn't believe it, but CBC News is reportig this as well.

I, or Chris, will keep everyone posted.

That is awful - I've got the radio on quiet and I'm listening to the football, and I just half heard it. I actually froze when I did - I wasnt sure if I heard right.

Wow... That's just so sad. This early in his career, after Brokeback Mountain and TDK he could have become a real superstar...

My prayers are out to his friends and family.

R.I.P. Heath Ledger

Yea, this is so sad, so early in his career and life. 28, right? Man this is horrible. I'm almost 100% sure they (directors, creators of the movie) will add a "In memory of Heath Ledger" at the begining or end. But dang, this is sad.

RIP Heath Ledger

I am saddened.

Like many of you, at FIRST I thought it could be a PR stunt.
I saw it on CNN News, so I am thinking it is probably real.

The sad part is . . .
I (and MANY of you) wouldn't put it pass a "hype firm" to DO a fake death. VERY, VERY SAD commentary on society.

I feel for his family and daughter.

Some folks on the Brotherhood of the Kilt forum have been speculating on whether this ends TDK.

At this point in the film business, WB has WAY too much invested and relying upon this film to "weather" the writer strike impact. I expect it to be released this summer.

.....When the name Heath Ledger came out for Joker. I scoffed like any true fanboy. Then pictures leaked trailers came out and even us hardcore die hard bat fanatics had to tip a hat at what was to come.
He changed alot of minds and made people say "This could work" with his work and that is truly the greatest accomplishment of any actor.
He made me excited about Batman, Joker and the franchise as a whole again.
I will be first in line to see an incredible actor doing a part he was never meant to play in the eyes of many, and ace it.
To heath I thank for giving comic books works another chance at being considered by all masterpieces....

Someone in my office yelled out "Heath Ledger is dead!" and everyone checked online to see if it was true. I was getting text messages and phone calls from my friends about it. One of my co-workers and I had been talking about him for months praising his dedication to the Joker.

My prayers go to his family. I believe this will strengthen the hype to see The Dark Knight. It so sad to see a young successful actor's life end like this.
