Me and another batman fan from the forum were talking, and i came up with the idea for Joe Pesci as the Penguin. Hes short, could resemble him with makeup and a nose like his. Slick black hair put on him. He kind of has a ganster voice, maybe play around with that. |

I had to do this:
Penguin: WA! WA!
Batman: heh, you are funny as a penguin, Penguin.
Penguin: What do you mean I'm funny?
Batman: It's funny, you know. It's funny, you're a funny guy.
Penguin: what do you mean, you mean the way I talk? What?
Batman: It's just, you know. You're just funny, it's... funny, the way you act.
Penguin: [it becomes quiet] Funny how? What's funny about it?
Gordon: Penguin no, You got it all wrong.
Penguin: Oh, oh, Jimbo. He's a big boy, he knows what he said. What did ya say? Funny how?
Batman: Jus...
Penguin: What?
Batman: Just... ya know... you're funny.
Penguin: You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little "bleep" up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown like Joker, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to "bleep"in' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?
Batman: Just... you know...
Penguin: No, no, I don't know, you said it. How do I know? You said I'm funny. How the "bleep" am I funny, what the "bleep" is so funny about me? Tell me, tell me what's funny!
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.
(crack!)
And I'm the surgeon.

lol, i hope your not making fun of my choice. That was funny though Obviously, Joe wouldn't be like he is in many movies. Change his voice just a tad so his language isn't as accented, or crude with dialogue. Makeup to make him resemble the comic book version. |

 Great job, Nate. Next he'll have to teach the "yutes" to respect his territory. OK? OK!
Back to the original topic; yeah, Pesci could probably pull it off. He's a bit older than I normally think of with Penguin, but that could actually be used as an advantage. TB aside, I don't think Penguin has ever been much of a fighter; he uses his brain more. Play him up as the cool, older crime boss type, and now with Falcone out of the way he can expand his empire. |

Exacally, I've imagened the penguin being in his 50's. He'll end up being some crime boss anyway. In returns, did the penguin really do much fighting? As i recall, Batman punched him only once.
Problem with hoffman is he's a bit young, too big. He's a good actor, but what I've seen him in, I think he may be better to wait and used as another villian. |

Well, I think its a good choice i think. Better than Philip Seymour Hoffman. This is the new Batman, not batman and robin. Were not casting for a gay penguin. (just a joke) |

Other possibilities. Google serch them if you dont know who they are. Jim Broadbent. (May be too tall though, do the lotr hobbit trick) or John Noble. Those names come to mind. |

I missed where you wrote that it was Phillip Seymour Hoffman. When I read Hoffman, I thought Dustin Hoffman. Who now that I think about it would probably do pretty well too. His performance in Hook was great. I think he could do something similar with the Penguin

He was actually consitered for Batman Returns. Need a lot of makeup and a fat suit. It would either be excellent or stupid. I dont doubt his acting, but more of the look. |

wait a minute now people, who saw MI3? Ya know I always thought Philip Seymour Hoffman was a great actor but never gave much thought about him when someone here suggested him for the penguin role and after seeing MI3 I thought to myself he can play a great villain so now I`m thinkin...hmmm maybe penguin would be a great role for him.

Well, in the comics he has exceptional agility and fighting skills, as noted in The Ultimate Guide to the Dark Knight, but I can't recall seeing him exercise that. I, too, think of him more as a Falcone kind of crime boss.

True, but it seems like they always qualify it, like "agile despite his rotundity" or some similar phrase. I aalways took it to mean that he doesn't waddle and sweat like Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons, but he's still nowhere near a physical match or Batman. |
