You're right man, it has the yellow oval, and while the neck looks big it doesn't look armoury.
Wait a minute, yellow oval? Reminds me of the sketches they released that I so "expertly" diregarded as the older, anime inspired designs for TB... *places foot in mouth*
Anyway, that image also had a very Beginsish Batman in a drawing, so yeah, they're using different designs.
Also, I think they're not going for continuity as much as style, sacrifising the continuous design for more visual oomph.

An FYI, BOF is reporting that there is at least one instance of someone who acquired one of the cakes during the last Why So Serious treasure hunt getting a text from the Joker on the cell phone that was in the cake.
So it looks like the viral campaign is staring back up.

Well, we've had a lot of news with substance lately... It's just when you get the websites writing up "My friends friend" sort of rumours it's not too reliable. Anything Nolan himself says tends to be true, cause he doesn't lie, he just has a tendancy to be coy about things.

It's sad to be talking about a f***ing movie when someone's died, but there's speculation that TDK might get canceled. It won't, they've finished filming and all they have left is post-production, movies have been released under these, and sometimes more extreme circumstances.
However, the one question is what they're to do if he was supposed to be in the sequel.

If Joker was to play a significant role, they would get a new actor.
They already replaced Rachel.
That is a bridge yet to be crossed.
I am REALLY looking forward to this film.

But replacing Katie Holmes and replacing Heath Ledger are to completely seperate things.
He confined himeself to his hotel for 6 weeks to come up with the voice, the posture, the mannerisms, everything. Switching actors would be both dissapointing and dissrespectful, NO one can play this Joker like Heath did because Heath created this Joker.
I'd prefer he just be written out of the sequel.

I can’t imagine them not releasing The Dark Knight even with Ledger’s death. The Harry Potter series continued after the actor that played Dumbledore died, so why would The Joker be any different.
You also assume that The Joker plays a part in the next film. Maybe he doesn't, maybe they have more of Two-Face or maybe even a couple new villains, like a really hot Catwoman. Even if they did have The Joker in it, they could have another actor replace Ledger if they needed to.

Dude, I said "what do they do IF Joker's in the sequel", how is that an assumption?
And replacing Heath would be foolish, he built the character from the ground up, anyone else would be a cheap imitation. I seriously doubt Nolan would be so disrespectful so as to soil his performance.
I'm not saying no one should ever play the Joker again, but just like with this one you've got to take it in a new direction from the last one, so you can bring your own life to it. That's impossible in a sequel.

They can have The Joker in it, without him, being in it.. I know sounds dumb, but show him from the back side, or just mention him..
Kinda alone those lines, Variety has a news peice up about what effect this will have on the marketing for TDK
Here's a small recap:
Principal photography on “The Dark Knight” finished in the fall; as of Tuesday, the pic is still skedded for a July 18 bow.
The status of the pic’s marketing campaign, however, is uncertain. The first phase is built around the Joker and pics of his character are particularly ghoulish. Warner execs were still grappling with the news on Tuesday and had no comment on how they would proceed.
