Has the status thing come up again? The point of casting is to get actors who play the roles well. That's it. It's not about getting famous people, it's not about making people famous.

If Christian Bale came in and auditioned for Batman Begins when he hadn't done American Psycho, Nolan would have still highered him because of his acting chops. And if he'd done and Academy award winning movie, something as high profile as say... Brokeback Mountain? Nolan would have still highered him because of the acting chops.

It's all about tallent, not street cred.

completly true but if u get a more high profile actor it would draw more people to see the movie. and if u get less famous actors you can pay them less and get more actors even if they are of a better acting quality. also i only ment that people that arent famous can get noticed doing a movie like this.

you both are right, but its just my personal opinion. i dont see them hiring an unknown actor for a big part like lets say.....catwoman or something, if it were something smaller like a second fiddle villian or even someone like robin, then ok but not someone who IMO would have a MAJOR role in the movie

well weve seen 2 high profile actresses play catwoman since 1990 and only the first one did any good. it really just depends on the actress

I think it depends on the script and the movie. I actually forund Halle Berry's Catwoman likable in the context of the bad movie around her. They give her too much flak for that movie. It wasn't the best choice for an actress of her caliber, but it wasn't her fault either. I didn't like Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman that much. Too psycho and not really playful.

well you have to also look at other things like the basic mood of the movie, and also the director. for his world, pfeiffers catwoman fit in perfectly and i think she will always be one of the best actresses in the role

well, its not like Batman NEVER smiles. he just hardly does it. He was a psycho in both movies, but it fit in what the mood of the movies were, but he had a huge grin on his fac,e ya that wasa bit odd. but i still loved it, BR was my fave bat movie, followed by B89 then BB

i think the grin in batman returns was fine....but the smile in batman forever; THAT was just creepy.

and as far as i know, batman always smiled. in pretty much all the movies except b'89 and begins, all the cartoons, and the comics. it's just that all those "smiles" are very awkward. which fits his character, so i think it's completely fine.

Uhh...refresh my memory, what scene in Batman Returns did he smile? Was it right before he blew up the guy with the dynamite?

Yeah, it's when he blows the guy up...

How is Batman smiling weird? He smiles during half the episodes of BTAS...

yeah but for the time it came out and how people came to know him on the movies, unless he was truly happy he didnt smile and if he did it was more of a smirk. that showed he was still dark and emotionally closed off almost like batman was the real person and bruce wayne is the secret identiy which now that i think about it makes alot of sence
has anyone else noticed that?

Ok, i know probably ALL of you are gonna disagree( did at one point as well) but i think that Eva Green might be a pretty good Catwoman. Not the best, i never liked this idea, but after thinking of it, i think she might be able to handle it. She isnt the best looking, but she has some kind of look to her that i think could work, but my top choices are still Theron and Russell.

Also, im still not sure who would be a good Poison Ivy

who the heck is eva green?

umm as far as ivy is concerned i think it should be (it sounds crazy but she can act sometimes and is often over looked) carmen electra?

No way, based on looks, i agree, but her acting is less than mediocre, she can stick to crappy comedies.
and eva green was vesper lynd in Casino Royale

As for supporting roles, Renee Montoya should be played by Michelle Rodriguez. She's got a knack for taking on tough females and Montoya is supposed to be a bad ass. The way Rodriguez' plays her characters is an easy fit for the mean streets of Gotham and a great ally for Batman.
