What they said about the Joker I`m totally fine with!...but the thing thats rumored about the Penguin to be what he is...NAH-UH! I strongly disagree with that! Because out of all the villains that there are in the Batman world, I find nothing that could not be realistic about his past and who he is (how he looks is a different story). They said they`re only rumors but theres no reason why Nolan should think that the true Penguin is not good enough!!!

I think everything's looking pretty cool. This whole franchise is turning out to be a sort of 'Ultimate Batman' with the villains and Batman's origin given a new twist.

yeah it is. but i think its better/cooler that way. all the villians sound like theyre all important to the story. ra's al ghul being one of the people who made bruce turn into batman is unheard of. in the animated series and in the comics ive read, the villians are just guys who get beat by batman evry time they try to do something. maybe its becuz of the whole "realism" of batman that nolan wants to show.

Still having the mob take orders from the League of Shadows is a little annoying. It would seem like the organization would not really exist anymore. Then again this is probably a lot of speculation.
The Penguin thing sounds pretty cool. He has always fit in better as the organized crime leader than the bumbling thief. I like the arms dealer approach, it is based a little on his status in No Man's Land.
The Joker seems to be based on the first few stories that were done with him. That'll be pretty cool. Even though there is still a lot of time for everything we hear about the movie now to change.

I don't know, it seems weirder to me that an organization that had been around for centuries would disband so easily. Ra's never seemed like the type to have everything hinge on a single plan, so I'm sure the LoS had backups in place if "Project: Gotham City" failed.
Besides, it might be a hint that Ra's wasn't really killed. |

True, the LoS would probably not be disbanded easily in the real world but this is the world of film and drama. To see the same group again could get stale and I would imagine everyone involved with the creation of the sequel will want to explore other areas of the Batman universe rather than hatching a new plan for the League.
As for the article, I love everything that is being talked about except for having 2 major villains in the film. The Joker and The Penguin are perfectly capable of carrying a film. If they start pairing the villains up again, I fear the mistakes of the original series will come back to haunt. One villain per movie = more Bat-films and more revenue for WB. Everyone wins! It seems like a no-brainer to me... |

I dont think The Penguin should be a major villain in the next movie. If he plays a role similar to Carmine Falcone in BB, I'll be fine with that. |

I hope the League of Shadows doesn't become a primary factor in this new series of films, though. It was never an element in the comics and people will start to realise and resent it more and more if Nolan continues to use it throughout his films.

Agreed, I don't think the LoS should be a factor (if they're never mentioned one way or the other, that's fine with me). I could even understand them withdrawing from Gotham entirely. I just have a hard time believing that the fate of the LoS would hinge entirely on the success or failure of one mission (even if he is dead, that hasn't stopped Ra's plans before). |

I don't think the League is dead, I just don't see it needing to be a part of the storyline anymore.
As for Ra's, I would assume he's not dead. The eternal nature of his character is what makes him interesting. The Lazarus Pit is as much a part of Ra's as anything. And...the bonus features on the DVD mention the pit and Talia....and....(I'm going out on a limb here) the song on the soundtrack when he dies is titled "Lasarius". Read into that what you want. |

Yeah, I definitely believe that he's still alive within the movie. I like the way that they included that stuff on the DVD, so that the die-hards are happy with the comic book accuracy and it's stealthily kept away from the average filmgoer who would probably dismiss the whole 'Lazarus Pits' thing as ludicrous (for a film that is supposedly meant to be realistic).

Exactly. Goyer's a fanboy and he understands the character. We may see Ra's again (probably not) but it is possible. Gordon and Batman will have there hands full in Gotham now that Arkham's inmates are on the loose. Plenty of stories to tell for Nolan and Goyer. |
