theres a war going on nolenites vs burtonites i'm a burtonolenite cause i like both so i posted a topic on the message boareds of batman 89 returns forever begins and tdk
I am getting tired of people ing and disparaging Batman Forever or
the Tim Burton movies for the sake of the current crop. They were very
well-liked when they came out and as I recall there was a buzz and
excitement about them just like there is now.
However, the first Batman came out in 1989- that is almost 20yrs ago- and Batman Forever came out in 1995- that is 13 yrs ago! There can't be a comparison in a such a long time span. Movie tastes change and film aesthetic changes. I could never sit down an watch B&W film and/or the style of acting through the 40-60s.
In 10-15 years when the current taste in film aesthetic is no longer
around, the current Batmans (Chris Nolan) will be discarded just the
same as older ones are. They are not ANY better films, nor is Christian Bale
any better Batman than Michael Keaton or Val kilmer

i say you post that on the begins boared to show them whos boss because begins was boring it got good when he became batman tdk now thats a good one imo batman 66 batman 89 batman retuns batman forver TDK are the best for the movies maybe the ones from the 40's . posted by me
I get sick of people feeling the need to post garbage insults towards the guy just because he made a film they don't like. B&R was eleven years ago. Let it go. posted by MrLuthor89.
i totally agree there you are a mind reader lol i rember when B&R came out i was 4 people were so mad. posted by me now grow up BB is overrated TDK is not i must say that was good now i'm not on any side i'm a burtonolenite because i like both movies besides B&R what do you think
I remember the buzz, the hype and the excitement about Burton's Batman. Most people hated the idea of Keaton as Batman -- until they saw the film. Then they loved what he and Burton did with the character.
I like Christian Bale as Batman. I dislike that Nolan borrowed heavily from The Shadow and re-created the character's origins. I like Elfman's memorable score; most movie soundtracks today are too forgettable for my tastes.
You're right. In 20 years, another Batman film will come out, and it will have a different style, and the kids of that generation will love it and despise what came before.

batman begins is not overrated..in fact i know many people who say that it's overrated. if there are many people who claim it's overrated, isn't that a sign that it's not overrated?
well whatever. it doesn't matter what it was like in the past, or how it will be in the future. the dark knight is just the better film of all of them so far. the story, acting, editing, music, and everything is top notch. and let's face it, that other stuff 15+ years ago are out-dated now.
the important thing is that batman will always get better and evolve. the movies, actors, and cartoons are temporary, but the character is forever. not pun intended.
No offence here doorsmorrison91, but have you ever considered that some people are being disparaging towards the Burton movies because they genuinely don't like them? I'm one of the people that no longer cares much for the Burton movies as it's less Batman and more Burton characters being assigned the names of characters from the Batman mythos - especially in regards to Batman Returns.
I watched the An Evening With Kevin Smith DVDs I own recently and he pretty much nails it. There was a buzz when the movie was coming out as it'd show Batman in a different light to the campy 60s TV Show. But again, Burton proves that 'he'd never read a comic book' (he said as much himself), and it's pretty evident.
I get that some people don't like the 'Batman in the real world' feel Nolan and co are going for, and I agree with you in some respects. There is a huge amount of hype around The Dark Knight right now and when the dust settles it won't be raved about as much. But I still feel that Begins and TDK are a far better protrayal of The Batman than Batman 89 and Batman Returns.
I'm guessing by your username that you, like me, are a fan of The Doors. I'd say that Burton's Batman movies are about the same to Batman as Oliver Stone's The Doors was to the band itself. May have helped bring in new fans to the subject the movie was focusing on, but not a faithful protrayal.
