i don't know why but i think batman begins was so much better than superman returns, i mean i love the way singer directs but still nolan is better, the x-men movies were a little simple and that's way when another director made x-3 the third one was the best, is the same here superman returns was simple while batman had everything, romance, action mystery and the most important is that they keep the suspense all the movie so i say i can wait to see superman sequel but i definilty can't wait to see the dark knight cause if gonna be better, in my opinion

BATMAN BEGINS was a much better film, It had Iconic feel to it. just like The comics & BATMAN : The Animated Series . Superman Returns is a great moive, it had an emotional depth to it . along with a very good romantic story. but it didn't have as much action like BATMAN BEGINS .

Batman Begisn was a great film because Batman never got an origin story, media-wise, before so he really needed to BEGIN. Superman Returns was also a good film because he already had a great origin film and since he's a hero we need today, he really needed to RETURN. Get it?
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.

I haven't watched Superman Returns, in fact I've never really seen a Superman movie all the way through. I was never really a Superman fan, because most of the time he's more of a symbol than a person.
What turn's me onto the Superhero genre is that I love the idea of a person who's willing to sacrifice everything for other people, but to me Superman has never had that quality; he's alway's been less a character and more a symbol of "Truth, Justice and the American way." That's a problem for me because I don't believe in justice; if someone kill's your brother, and I am the one who has to stop him, I'm not going to do it for some morall balance or revenge; I'll do so he can't kill someone else.
Anyone else notice that Batman seems to have the biggest connection to the people he protects, maybe it's because he is one of them, the victim of an act of violence.

i dont agree qith you, superman and batmans represent the heroes, cause if you say to someone: "mention a hero" they would say either batman and superman, they both are equally famous cause they represent justice to their own way.
Batman is someone who makes the justice in the shadows, he rathern to help the cops without being seen, while superman is like a public hero because "he does everything" but not only the kryptonite damges, the fact that Lois is killed could kill him, is like spiderman.
in conlucsion they are both so diferent and so similar, and you could take those movies for example.

BlueBeettle22, I don't think you understand what I am saying. Let me reiderate my point.
My problem with Superman is that he seldom seems to emote, and that his villains are more just a challenge for him rather than a menace to society. He dosen't seem willing to sacrifice everything, because he has nothing other than Lois.
On the other hand, Bruce Wayne is a billionare, he was born with the silver spoon; but he sacrifices his riches and his life as Bruce Wayne to save people. The same goes for Spider-Man.
Now your acting as though I am saying Superman's not famous, but I'm just stating the obvious fact that he's quite two-dimensional; and for people like me who didn't grow up with him, he dosen't bring anything to the table as a character to make him all that interesting, and he's more of a symbol of justice than a flesh and blood character.
Never start with the head; the victim gets all fuzzy!

the enemies of superman are a challenge for him because he needs something to fights like doomsday, and the scarecrow is a challenge for batman, venom is a challenge for spidey, and magneto to wolverine, and weatherwizard to flash, and etc. the thing is what i have to say:
they both are the same, batman=superman,superman=batmanj
if you want an example=
charcters=
vicki vale=lois lane
joker=lex luthor
storys:
death of superman=knightfall
metropolis fall=no mans land

What I said was that Superman's villains don't pose much of a threat to civilains in comparison to villains like The Joker, Ra's Al Ghul, The Scarecrow, The Penguin and Two-Face.
The Joker is a serial killer psychopath who kills people with a chemical that causes them to laugh themselves to death. He really has nothing in common with Luthor.
Vicky Vale was a fling Batman once had, Lois Lane has been with Superman since the begining.
So your saying that because Batman has an arch-nemisis and once had a girlfriend he is the same character that Superman is, to the point that their interchangable?
I'm sorry to be rude, but that is the single stupidest concept I've heard in years; I recomend you go pick up a Batman Comic, either Begins or a Burton film(and even Forever) or a Btas DVD and pay attention to the character rather than the situations.
Batman has almost nothing in common with Superman character wise, here is a comparison.
Back Story:
Superman; Grew up with a foster family for his entire childhood, eventualy developed powers and decided to do something good with them.
Batman; Was raised to the age of eight by parents, they were then murdered and Bruce spent the rest of his youth being raised by Alfred and living in boarding schools, swearing to his dead parents that he would take revenge and save Gotham City from crime. As soon as he was an adult he traveled the world learning abilities that could use to fight injustice, he then returned to Gotham and took up the disguise of a Bat to frighten his enemies; Bats being a sign of terror to him because of a childhood incident.
Superman's biggest emotional scar is that he is the last of his race.
Batman's biggest emotinal scar is that his parents were murdered in front of him when he was a kid; an incedent that cause his existance as Batman.
Superman is a up beat boyscout who saves lives because he has the power to, he's kind of naive and likes to see the good in people.
Batman is esentialy a ghost, the reminents of a boy that watched his parent's die. He dosen't have to save lives, he chose that path when he was eight.
Superman seldom makes a mistake, and lives on accepting most of the ones he has made.
Batman has made many mistakes and blames himself for things he had no control over(Two-Face, Jason Todd, His parents).
So I guess you never read or watched anything with Batman in it, because you don't seem to have any grasp of the character.
Never start with the head; the victim gets all fuzzy!

Me too, purely because Batman Begins just had certain, definitive elements that Superman Returns didn't have. Batman Begins had Batman vowing not to kill. Batman Begins had Bruce surrounded by bats. Batman Begins had Gordon in the Batmobile. Superman Returns didn't really have anything that absolutely blew me away, like Batman did, even though the action and relationships were great. I still rank Superman Returns as one of my favourite films, but Batman Begins is my all-time no.1 film, ever.

I think Begins was much better the way Batman/Bruce's origin was told by Nolan and Co also I had two shocks one real Ra's was Neeson and ending with a Jokercard.

Razhwurz, if you dont wanna be rude, dont be it so simple, see there its a stupid comment, what i said is that superman and batman are twins, so similar and so different, there are to sides of the coins, i'm not gonna get deeper on that.
and by the way you told me to pick up and read batman comics, well i tell you to pick up a superman comic to you can see who is superman, i watched all batman films, and superman all except the fourth one, so i think i know the both characters, and i think this conversation was just topic off.
Your first opinion you wrote i answered by getting my opinion, and you answered me like angry, and i didnt wanted to harm anything

Ya know I loved Superman Returns however I loved Batman Begins better and not only just because I think he`s better lol. Before I even saw Superman Returns I thought it was great how it would pick up after the first two (cuz the last two were a joke kinda like how BF and B&R were) because I dont think the style, mood, music, and environment of those superman movies can be beaten; so then I see the Superman movie and I found the story to be spectacular and how the style seems to have stayed the same and thats really what you have to do if it continues from a previous movie. I think we all love Batman Begins better because its finally being done the right way. Batman and Superman are DCs best but I will say that if Batman didnt exist Superman would be the next in line to be my fav!!!

Razhwurz, that was one of the things i was trying to say
But you never seemed to be saying anything that would have anything to do with my statements.
I told you that I didn't like Superman because he was a bit two-dimensional. But you replied saying he was popular, even though I said nothing to disput that.
I then restated my oppinion. You responded by stating that because Batman and Superman have a couple of similarities in their mythos they are the same character (note character is read person), I then mentioned quite a few differances between Batman and Superman.
Now next time you want to say somthing like "I like Superman because of the upbeat heroic mood.", just say it instead of making statments that have nothing to do with the conversation.
And I never said anything like "Superman sucks!", I just mentioned that I don't really like Superman.
And there was no anger in any of my posts, I just think it's silly that you compare two things that are alike in only a few ways and say "They're the same". Let me use your formula for a few other "the sames"
The Joker and Superman are the same, you see;
Harley Quinn=Lois Lane
Batman=Lex Luthor
Gotham=Metropolis
The kid Joker Gassed for fun= the kid Superman resqued from a burning building.
The Power Rangers and the X-men are the same
Zordon=Professer X
Red Ranger=Cyclops
Blue Ranger= Beast
Black Ranger=Ice-Man
Pink Ranger= Jean Grey
Yellow Ranger= Angel
Green Ranger=Wolverine
Rita Repulsa= Magneto
Goldar= Sabretoothe
Scorpion Chick= Mystique
Command center= X-mansion subasement
You'll note the rangers and the X-men are very similar in that formula, but anyone whos seen both will tell you they're are much more differances than there are similarities, the sam goes for Batman and Superman.

Heheh. I like that analogy. :p And I agree with a lot of what you're saying. Although Superman isn't necessarily two-dimensional, one could easily see why we like Batman more. I've read a good amount of Superman comics and I just can't get into the character like I can with Batman. Superman was initially designed more as an extraordinary symbol of heroism compared with the dark nature of Batman, so it make sense.

yeah you deserve an applausse ladies and gentleman, Razhwurz discovered something very very amazing.
If you didn't want to make a conversation about something that is topic off, then dont do it, or you know also you can post a thread about that.
So if you didnt wanted to sound angry then dont write phrases like "i dont wanna be rude" or whatever.
By the way in your comparisions of x-men and power rangers you missed alpha and silver ranger=angel and yellow ranger=storm.
hey look i can compare too.

Thanks Caleson, that's exactly what I've been trying to say. And I don't mean to say he's two-dimensional, just his character has never been flushed out to a degree like Batman's. And I'm sorry for going of topic.
So how was SR, I was kind of hoping it would be good, cause I've never seen an interesting(IMO) Superman story, and this has Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer; The latter I've enjoyed some of the work of, the former is one of my very favorite actors.
