I think the fact that a thread discussing the Pros and Cons of a Batman film can lead to discussion on sexual preference shows how bad the film was.

Phil wrote: to me, a batman suit doesnt have to be scary to be a good batman suit. its all about the eyes and the voice for the scariness.
But the whole point of the Batsuit is that it's supposed to be scary. Otherwise, why dress like a bat at all?
Even Christian Bale couldn't have been scary in that sparkly blue rubber mess.

Homer: Batman's a scientist.

Though the Batmobile was a nightmare (and not the kind it should be), it actually did have a couple of decent engineering ideas. The way the the jet exhausts were arranged would naturally provide better stability than a single exhaust, and could've been used to help that ocean liner corner better. It's also the first moviemobile that actually had space for fuel tanks.
It's a stretch, I know, but it always amused me that logical thought went into things like that, but nowhere else in the movie. |

I don't think people would hate that Batmobile had it been in the comics before hand. People just hate it because it looks silly in real life. Anyway, I still think the whole movie bar the Robin costume sucked.

It wasn't bad with the lights off, either. It's just a shame that whenever it was on the screen it was as the rolling Vegas show rather than the design and engineering triumph it could've been. Much like the rest of the movie... |

Unlike Batman Forever, I don't think Batman & Robin ever had the potential to be a 'triumph'. It had nothing going for it in the script and George Clooney wouldn't have made a very good Batman, even if he had played him as the dark brooding type that Keaton, Kilmer and Bale have played.

Was that an insult to Clooney, or an attempt at sticking up for him while dissing the other three actors? I couldn't really tell.

I guess some of the circumstances this movie had kinda helped draw my attention away from how bad it really was. In the previews and trailer they always focused on Bruce and Dick arguing and Alfred's illness, which seemed like serious aspects. But now that I can take it all in, you know it's a terrible mess of a movie way before getting to "We're going to need a bigger cave."
